       我一直渴望到海外学习，不想按照所谓主流的道路生活。中国以其博大精深的文化吸引着我，同时，中国在世界市场中也扮演着越来越重要的角色。我想成为中国蓬勃发展中的一份子。因此，我来到了香港中文大学（深圳），这所有国际化展望的大学吸引着我。虽然在深圳的校园略显年轻，但是香港中文大学为我们的发展给予了极大的支持。

From the age of 14, I have always wanted to study overseas; I wanted to study abroad and did not want to take the mainstream route. After my high school graduation in Hamburg, many of my fellow students decided to further their studies in England, Denmark, the Netherlands and the United States. But having grown up in a Western environment and having had exposure to bilingual education, I had already achieved "near native speaker competence" in English, so it was time for me to experience something new!

Chinese culture has always fascinated me and their economy is booming, which makes China a key-player in the world market now and in the future. I wanted to be part of this Chinese success-story and a University with an International outlook appealed to me. That is why the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen was the right fit for my requirements. The campus in Shenzhen might be in its infancy, but it has its motherhouse, "Sha Tin campus," in Hong Kong to support us as the University strives to build a legacy.

With a global vision, CUHK Shenzhen will continue to combine tradition with modernity and forge stronger links between China and the West.

       我在荷兰长大，来到香港中文大学（深圳）交换一个学期，令我收获颇丰。港中大（深圳）虽然是座年轻的大学，但是却有着巨大的潜力，逐渐地成长着。校园环境轻松活泼，大家都很热情，很容易交到朋友。能结识到聪明、认真又努力的同学们是一件幸事。在与他们交流的过程中，可以学习、感受到不同的文化。

Having lived my whole life in the same small Western-European country, doing an exchange semester at CUHK Shenzhen significantly broadened my horizons.

I have experienced CUHK Shenzhen as a young university but one with enormous potential, and one which is developing rapidly. Since the university is growing, the atmosphere is quite informal and it's easy to get to know many of the students. From the moment I arrived in Shenzhen, the students helped me to settle in and have been very hospitable.

Through group projects and extra- curricular activities, such as AIESEC and the university's debate society, I have collaborated with many students. It's a delight to study with such smart, exceptionally hardworking and conscientious classmates. They often spontaneously start conversations as they are enthusiastic to learn about other cultures or to share their own culture.

These experiences have given me a new perspective on life which I look forward to taking back to the Netherlands.

作为一个母语非中文的学生，要在中国自如地生活很困难。可是在香港中文大学（深圳），英文和中文都是日常语言，对母语非中文的学生在学校求学和生活也没什么影响。学校开设的中文课程帮助我们更好地适应全新的环境，和中国学生们交朋友更是一个学习中文和中国文化的好方法。

Living in CUHK Shenzhen as an international student is a series of great experiences and has big challenges. It can be difficult to survive on non-native soil as non-native Chinese speaker. However, in CUHK Shenzhen, everyone is equally treated in English-based classes and everything is informed in both English and Chinese.

Moreover, not only Chinese classes for international students but a so being fiends with Chinese students help us to adapt to the new society well. Hanging out with Chinese friends as much as you can be the best way if you plan to improve your Chinese language ability or study Chinese language.

In campus, there are many arranged events which you can participate with friends and make great memories such as film festival and CUHK Shenzhen running man! Also as students, we can organize a variety of club activities. Those activities will also help you to find many new friends, enjoy your spare time, and relieve the stress of CUHK Shenzhen.
