In this lecture, Li Xingyu shared with us a variety of sound clips along with memorable stories of the Sound Searching Project.

The Sound Searching Project first started with a portable audio recorder.

2016亚马逊雨林寻声计划
李星宇团队在2016年进入亚马逊雨林记录大自然的声音。他们尽可能减少对动物的打扰，把收音设备藏在各种地方，克服种种困难，完成了雨林声音的记录。
In 2016, Li Xingyu and his team went deep into the Amazon rainforest in search of voices of the Jungle. To minimize the impact on the habitat of the wildlife, they camouflaged their sound recorders at the least conspicuous corners.
帮助云南天行长臂猿进行交流
云南天行的长臂猿因为人类建筑、修路等诸多活动而被迫分隔生存，隐入深山。在与科学家的沟通后，李星宇团队借用声音设备增强被分隔开的各组长臂猿之间的交流。他希望这个项目可以引起人类对于自然环境的思考。
The gibbons in Tianxing, Yunnan Province have been forced to live apart from their species and retreat deeper into the mountains as a result of urban expansion, road construction and other human activities. After consulting with scientists, Li Xingyu and his team managed to facilitate communication between the separated gibbon groups with the help of sound equipment. With this project, he hopes to call into people's mind the awareness of our natural world.

Zhao Xiaoxuan: Understanding Contemporary Art
艺术的边界
在无限扩大
本期讲座赵孝萱老师向我们分享了当代艺术在各方面的伟大创作。她提出艺术是照见内心真实，得到心灵的抚慰与精神超拔的力量。生活中我们应该富有创造与突破的精神，激发想象力与创造力。
In this lecture, Zhao Xiaoxuan shared with us the groundbreaking innovations of contemporary art in various aspects. Art, she contends, is the power to penetrate into the innermost truth, is our ultimate solace and spiritual transcendence. In our day-to-day life, she encourages us to stay creative, imaginative, and be ready to break through habits and limits.
艺术史里的当代艺术
二十世纪，艺术是心理、哲学与社会思想的载体，其类型也逐渐增多。
In the 20th century, art was the medium throuh which philosophy, psychology and social ideology expressed themselves. Art forms renewed and expanded into new ramifications.

一切艺术都必须是当代艺术

当代艺术强调思想性，具有视觉冲击，有颠覆性的表现。如同再画《蒙娜丽莎》时艺术就有了与时代同行的变化。人类视角思维不断变化, 反映人类思想的艺术也必然随之进步。艺术家是哲学家，他们思考的是如何以自己的方式应对所处的时代。
Subverting established artistic forms, contemporary art is at once virtually striking and highly expressive of the thinking process. The contemporary version of Mona Lisa, for instance, takes on new expression in line with the progress of time. As human perspectives change continually, art, a mirror of human thoughts, changes inevitably. Artists can also be said to be philosophers, contemplating their own ways to deal with the time they are situated in.

The combination of technology and art, and the addition of scientific elements to the visual experience are the current trend of corporate product design. The great architects, scientists, philosophers, and entrepreneurs rely on brilliant creativity and imagination, which is the essence of art. In modern society, beauty is the key to productivity, competitiveness, and victory.

Lin Zheng: Heroic Epic: Martial Arts and Heroic Imagination in the East and West
文学与现实中
的英雄形象
本期讲座，林峥老师结合文学与影视作品为我们解读了东西方的英雄形象，同时结合疫情，指出现实中一个个平凡人就可以成为伟大的英雄，那些逆行者的身影值得我们最高的敬意。
In this lecture, Lin Zheng interpreted the images of both Eastern and Western heroes through a joined perspective of literature, film and TV production. In the context of Covid-19, she pointed out the fact that in reality heroes often emerge from ordinary people. The heroes in harm's way deserve our highest respect.
千古文人侠客梦
乱世出游侠，侠客小说中的这些英雄形象代表了百姓对公正平等秩序的期望，同时武侠小说也蕴含着创作者们的家国之思与中华想象。
Swordsmen emerge in troubled times. The heroic images in martial arts novels represent people's expectation of justice and equality, while martial art novels imply the thoughts and emotions of the authors for their families and the country, as well as their vision of China.
侠之大者，金庸的武侠世界
林峥老师认为金庸先生的小说是“成长武侠小说”的模式，江湖逐渐走出历史，演变成一个带有象征色彩的文学世界。其中的武器、武功与武学有文化、审美、伦理意味。小说具有超越性，包含着金庸先生的历史视野与政治关怀。
Lin Zheng believes that Jin Yong's martial arts fictions are of a "developing" kind. The society of swordsmen gradually stepped out of history and became a highly symbolic literary world, in which each weapon, each school of martial arts has cultrual, aesthetic, and ethical implications. His fiction transcends time and space, registering his own historical and political concerns.
英雄史诗与时代精神
西方的英雄塑造体现着通俗文化与政治历史的关系，许多形象映射着反法西斯的抗击战争精神。随着时代发展，也增加了更多其他的意义。这些形象的伟大之处就在于体现了人类的勇气，对正义的追求与向往。
The portrayal of Western heroes reflect the discourse between popular culture and political history. Many heroic images embody an anti-fascist spirit of fighting against injustice. The characterization has been endowed with new meanings as time proceeds forward. The greatness of these heroic images lies in their successful expression of human courage as well as our yearning and pursuit of justice.

Professor Chan Wing-wah: The Power of Music: What Music Brings to the Life of Composer Chan Wing-wah

人生的一部分
本期讲座，陈永华教授向我们分享了他学习音乐的历程，并且结合自身的体悟说明了音乐对人生的重要意义。他在介绍音乐创作理念的同时，通过一段段音乐演奏视频使听众进一步感受音乐的魅力。
In this lecture, Prof. Chan Wing-wah shared with us his music learning experience and showed us what impact music can have on our life. He incorportates video clips of performance into his theoretical introduction of music composition, bringing the audience face to face with the charm of music.
灵感就是经验的积累
陈永华教授认为创作灵感来源于他在各方面的积累，他喜爱阅读多国的书籍，了解中国古代历史。同时他习惯浏览国际与当地的新闻报纸，曾游历过40多个国家，也几乎走遍了全中国。这些生活经历的积累就是他的灵感。
Prof. Chan Wing-wah thought inspiration came from his accumulation of experience. He enjoys reading books from many countries and learning the ancient history of China and is used to reading international and local news. He has traveled to more than forty countries and almost all parts of China. His inspiration comes from the accumulation of life experience.
陈永华教授的想法分享
最后，陈永华教授分享了他关于人生的想法：去寻找热爱的事务，然后为之奋斗，用一生去追求使它完美！直到你热爱的成为你的人生。而音乐就是我人生的力量之源！
Finally, Prof. Chan shared some thoughts about life. "Go and find your passion. Work on it and strive for its perfection with your life time till it one day becomes your life. As for me, music is my life-long source of power."

Hu Hongxia: Why Do We Still Need Paper Books In the Internet Age?
艺术不会消失，
书籍也不会消失
书籍不仅仅是信息载体，还是艺术实体，插图就是书籍艺术中的大作。胡洪侠老师认为“纸质书”虽然面临着巨大挑战，但不会消失。
Books are not just information carriers. They are themselves artistic entities. Illustrations, for example, can be masterpieces in the art of book. Although physical books are faced with unprecedented challenge, Hu Hongxia believes they will never disappear.
新阅读和读书不能相互替代
所有的智能互联网时代的阅读都代替不了纸质书的阅读，新阅读和读书不矛盾，但是不能相互替代，互联网时代仍然需要“纸质书”。
The reading of physical books will not be superseded in the Internet age. New modes of reading do not necessarily conflict with traditional ones. Physical copies cannot be replaced but will still be needed in our time.
培养对书籍之美的热爱
在将来，纸质书的数量会逐渐减少，但同时也变得更加精美，所以阅读者要建立自己的艺术趣味。缔造属于自己的思考空间，每一本伟大的书都是这个世界上独一无二的空间。
The future will see a decline in the number of books produced, but each book will become more refined in taste and quality. As readers, we will need to establish our own artistic taste and our thinking space. Every book that can be called great contains within it a unique universe.
卡尔·波普尔对书籍的赞美
胡洪侠老师还引用了哲学家卡尔·波普尔对书籍的赞美：“我们的文明，是书籍的文明：它的传统和它的本源，它的严格性和它的理智责任感，它的空前想象力和它的创造力，它对自由的理解和对自由的关注——这一切以我们对书籍的热爱为基础。”
Mr. Hu Hongxia also quoted Karl R. Popper as saying that our civilization is, indeed, a bookish one: its tradition and its originality, its seriousness and sense of intellectual responsibility, its unprecedented power of imagination and its creativity, its understanding of freedom and its watchfulness for it – all these rest on our love of books.
从3月8日开始，“云上艺术”项目在线上陪伴大家度过了一段愉快充盈的时光，即使隔着屏幕也无法阻挡各式各样精彩的艺术扑面而来。随着5月29日第十七期的结束，本时段“云上艺术”直播已圆满完结。不论你在这其中收获了快乐、感动还是萌生了更多好奇，都是艺术带来真实的感受。感谢参与，期待更多形式的艺术分享将在UAC发生。
