科摩罗笼罩着一层神秘感。而这层神秘感,主要来自于该国的间隙性或复合性、该国与其他地方的邻近性或不同之处,以及该国作为其他地方的一个缩影。然而,仅根据其与话语构建的其他地域的关系来定义科摩罗,并不足以理解科摩罗本身。本文回顾有关政治地理学和岛屿学的思考,把科摩罗构建为一个间隙岛屿、边缘岛屿和微观世界,同时深入探讨更为广泛的政治地理学研究。
