Polish government in Israel to 'enhance strategic partnership'

The chain of World leaders flocking to Jerusalem continues… This week, Israel and Poland hold "Government-to-Government" meeting in Jerusalem; reaffirming joint aim to bolster bilateral relations, enhance cooperation in economy, science and technology, cyber, defense and security, and culture. Polish Prime Minister Beata Szydlo "strongly affirm that any challenge to the right of existence of the State of Israel and calls for its de-legitimization and boycott are unacceptable."

As part of the convention focusing on innovation; met with PM, mayors of local municipalities and Israeli technology entrepreneurs in health, security, water and the environment. The mayors signed a statement criticizing the recent UNESCO resolutions that deny Jewish connections to Jerusalem, the Temple Mount and other holy sites in Israel and "to work to end politically inspired falsehood and distortions, and to speak the truth about all relevant history.”

Advance in fight against Cancer

Prof. Eran Meshorer; the study revealed a survival mechanism in cancer cells that allows the disease to erupt again even after aggressive treatment. In a paper published in Science, the researchers describe the mechanism by which cancer tumor cells become cancer stem cells that can sustain long-term growth. The discovery open the door for medical intervention in cancer stem cells aimed at the restoration in all cancer cells and advances significantly the study of the mechanisms of cancer stem cells and the relatively new epigenetic approach to cancer research.

Byzantine-era arch discovered in Old City

An ancient Byzantine-era arch was discovered during Development of the Jewish Quarter aiming to demonstrate how life on the street looked 1,500 years ago in this neighborhood at the Old City. Minister of Construction, Yoav Galant; "When you go through these places, you touch stones in places where Jews lived, prayed and bathed. To me, there is nothing more important or more exciting that connects the Jewish people to this place and I am excited to be a part of it."

WHO grants the IDF field hospital the highest possible ranking, the only field hospital in the world to receive the level of 3.

Dr. Gilad Evrony wins Eppendorf Prize

Dr. Gilad Evrony, 34, was awarded the Eppendorf and Science Prize for Neurobiology presented by Science magazine and the American Association for the Advancement of Science –for his work in sequencing and analyzing the genomes of individual brain cells.

Fitch upgrades Israel's credit rating

Fitch Ratings on Friday upgraded Israel's Long-Term Foreign- and Local-Currency Issuer Default Ratings to 'A+'from 'A'; "The Outlooks on the long-term are Stable, Israel's external balance sheet has continued to strengthen. The country has returned annual current account surpluses each year and in 2015 posted a record surplus of 4.6% of GDP, an improvement from 35% in 2014 and 23% in 2008 when we last upgraded Israel's IDRs. This is 4 times the 'A' median, and in line with the 'AA' median”. International rating companies - S&P and Moody's also issued similar reports.
