FABO|中国数制工坊开展全球“Fabricademy"生物织物学术课程
Fabricademy(Fabric+Academy): a new textile academy.
Fabricademy is a cross-disciplinary course thatfocuses on the development of new technologies applied in the textile industry,in its broad range of applications, from the fashion industry to the upcoming wearable market.
The two phase program will last 6 months, withapproximately 3 months of seminars and learning modules and three monthsfocusing on individual project research.
Fablab O Shanghai will be one of the sites where thenew Textile Academy will take place, starting september 26th.
INTRODUCTION
介绍
http://textile-academy.org/about
The textile and clothing industry needs to explore andstart to implement more sustainable and fair alternatives systems today. Theprogram will focus on the un-ethical and environmentally un-friendly realitiesof the current industry, while combining the knowledge of traditional andinnovative craftsmanship to work towards new ways of designing, prototyping andproducing for the textile and fashion industry.
In each class the students will make a project thatdeals with men and women’s body, culture and ways of thinking, using the toolsof digital fabrication and the opportunities given by recycling used materialand hacking existing objects or using sensor for the environment or the body. Each projects will be an experimentation whose results will be used as afeedback to conduct a new round of experimentation
The academy offers a cross-disciplinary education andresearch platform, where production and culture through advanced technologiesare making impact in the way we think and act towards the textile industry andall of its application fields.
DISTRIBUTED EDUCATION
http://textile-academy.org/sites
Fabricademy offers a distributed educational model, first developed within the Fab Academy platform: students learn in localworkgroups, with peers, mentors, and machines, which are then connectedglobally by content sharing and videoconferencing for interactive classes. Theindividual labs are supported and supervised regionally by supernode sites withmore advanced capabilities, expertise, and inventories.
Working locally, while creating connected communitiesglobally: we are not waiting for things to change, we are changing them fromthe ground up.

Anastasia Pistofidou
FabTextiles / Fab Lab BCN
Anastasia is a Greek architect specialized in digitalfabrication technologies, design and education. She currently works at theInstitute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC) Fab Lab Barcelona asthe director and founder of the FabTextiles research lab. She combines theanalog and the digital towards applied research focused on new materials, artand textiles.
Cecilia Raspanti
TextileLab Amsterdam / Waag Society
Cecilia is a fashion/textile designer and digitalfabrication expert. Currently based in Amsterdam, she is the co-founder of theTextileLab Amsterdam and co-initiator of the educational program TextileAcademyat Waag Society. Here she leads the creative research and technologicaldevelopment of new concepts and alternatives for the textile and clothingindustry.
PROGRAM
http://textile-academy.org/program
The Fabricademy program includes 3 months of lecturesand another 3 months of local project development. During each week startingSeptember 26, every Tuesday at 9.00 PM Shanghai Time, 3.00 PM Central EuropeanTime, students will attend a global review and lecture. On Mondays at the samehour we are also planning talks from experts and practioner for afurther exploration of each week's topic.
CLASS 2017 – LECTURES
26-09-2017
State of the art, project management and documentation
Anastasia Pistofidou, Cecilia Raspanti, FioreBasile
Build a personal site describing you, your finalproject and how you designed your website, plan and sketch a potential semesterproject and add it to your website.
03-10-2017
Digitalize Bodies
Anastasia Pistofidou
Use software to obtain a body-figure and a digitalfabrication process to produce it
10-10-2017
Circular Open SourceFashion
Zoe Romano
The students will have to design and fabricate amodular reconfigurable system or seamless garments. The focus will be oncreating modular elements, structures and connections that allow the user tochange the shape of a garment, resize it or replace certain elements.
17-10-2017
Bio dyes &Biofabrics
Cecilia Raspanti
Explore dyeing with bacteria of different fibers andbacteria
24-10-2017
E-textiles &Wearables I
Mika Satomi
The students will have to produce one soft sensorexperimenting with the materials available at the lab. Trying to reproduce thesame sensor with different materials/techniques (hard/hard hard/softsoft/soft).
31-10-2017
Computational Couture
Aldo Sollazzo
Develop or use an existing parametric model in orderto design and rapid prototype your geometries using a digital fabricationmethod of your choice.
07-11-2017
Textile as Scaffold
Anastasia Pistofidou
In this class we will use textiles for composites, polymerisation,UV solidification, concrete casting, crystallization, biocomposites and otherapplications.
This class focuses on exploring techniques andapplications of technical textiles in the industry.
14-11-2017
Open source Hardware-from fibers to fabric
Mar Canet &Varvara Guljajeva
How to take advantage of digital fabrication and opensource technology to come up with an open source machine for knitting, weavingand invent new techniques.
21-11-2017
E-textiles &Wearables II
Hannah Perner-Wilson
Build your own soft actuators and sensors, integratethem in a working project
28-11-2017
Implications andapplications
Oscar Tomico
05-12-2017
Soft Robotics
软机器人
This class will focus in the study of a specific fieldin robotics, the soft robotics. Unlike rigid robots we are mostly used to, softbodied robots have similarities and performance characteristics similar toliving organisms or the human body.
12-12-2017
Skin electronics
To bedetermined
19-12-2017
Final presentationsof weekly assignments and project plan
Anastasia Pistofidou, Cecilia Raspanti, FioreBasile
