展览前言
绘画的审美有预设的视角,当这个视角被人为地移动了——如同古典绘画向现代绘画移动一样,以往的美学话语就会部分失效,特别是在当代,当符号化的观念在撞击人们的视觉习惯之时,就有人宣称架上绘画已经死亡,艺术已经终结,就像精神的历史已站在高峰一样。且不论这种臆断是否能经得起时间的考验,就当下我们看到的和感受到的,是不受西方周期左右的绘画艺术——包括油画——早已成为我们生活的一部分,也是我们表达情感的主要媒材和手段——无论其来自何方。深圳大芬国际油画双年展提供了这样一个平台,通过这个平台展现中国艺术家的创造力,展现世界各国艺术家的紧密相连,在这个平台上形成一个不受终结论话语左右的艺术潮流。
深圳大芬国际油画双年展迄今已办三届,是参与国最多也是范围最广的国际绘画双年展,通过这三届的成功举办,体现了大芬模式的转型和与世界的二次接轨,形成了与各国艺术家平等对话的平台。在这三届双年展中,大芬美术馆共接收来自世界各地参展艺术家无偿捐赠的作品力作达79件,这是对大芬国际油画双年展的肯定和支持。
大芬美术馆对每一届双年展的捐赠作品进行了梳理归类,这里面囊括了来自亚洲、欧洲、美洲、北非、大洋洲等27个国家和地区的艺术家作品。大芬美术馆秉承藏品活化的宗旨,不定期的策划馆藏作品展,此次大芬美术馆以“多彩的绘画与世界”为题,先行展出第一届至第二届的捐赠作品共56件,从这些展出作品中我们会发现参与的艺术家们大都年轻,很专业,充满活力,作品的画风质朴,具有很强的表现力。例如有的作品在呼唤业已消失的历史文明的记忆,有的作品在表达对全球工业化造成的生态环境破坏的担忧,也有的作品在探索跨文化间的共融互生,拒绝排他性,拒绝非此即彼。艺术家们在创作中大都采用日常所见题材,将平凡转化为可感人之形象,并且在形象中植入隐喻或叙事——从多角度折射出一个语言各异但心心相印的世界,可以说这是一个真正具有包容性和平衡性的大型绘画展,既有多元的形式,也有丰富的题材,体现出开放与融合、家园与共生的多彩世界。
当我们的目光投向世界更为广阔的地平线之时,就会看到“一花独放不是春,百花齐放春满园”的大好景致,艺术本身拥有的丰富性、复杂性和多变性才是展现人类精神创造的体现。深圳大芬国际油画双年展不仅是当下全球的艺术盛会,更是一个各国年轻艺术家们携手向美而行的新的历史起点。

FOREWORD
Aesthetics of painting has a preset perspective, and once this perspective is moved by people on purpose -- just like the movement of classical painting to modern painting, the previous aesthetic discourse will become partially invalid, especially in the contemporary era when the symbolic concepts are colliding with people’s visual habits. Some will claim that easel painting has died and art has ended, just like the peaking of a spiritual journey. Whether or not this assumption will stand the test of time, what we see and feel today is that painting art - including oil painting, which is not subject to the existence of cycles popular in the West, has long become part of our lives and a primary medium or means for expressing our emotions - no matter where it comes from. Shenzhen Dafen International Oil Painting Biennale provides the kind of platform that provides opportunities for Chinese artists to display their creativity and manifest the close connection between artists from all over the world, thus forming an artistic trend that is not to influenced by the final conclusion.
Shenzhen Dafen International Oil Painting Biennale, the third session in so far, is the international painting biennale having attracted the largest number of participating countries from the widest scope. Through the successful organizing of these three sessions, Dafen International has realized the transformation of Dafen pattern and the secondary integration with the international trend, based on which a platform for equal dialogue with artists from other countries has been formed. During these three sessions, Dafen Art Museum has received a total of 79 masterpieces donated by participating artists from all over the world, which is a great affirmation and support for Dafen International Oil Painting Biennale.
Based on the sorting of the donated works displayed in each of the previous two sessions and after detailed classification, Dafen Art Museum now has a collection of works created by artists from 27 countries/regions in Asia, Europe, the Americas, North Africa and Oceania. Adhering to the principle of collection revitalization, Dafen Art Museum organizes collection exhibitions aperiodically. For this year, under the theme of “Colorful Paintings and the World”, Dafen Art Museum is re-exhibiting 56 donated works from the previous two sessions, from which we will find that the artists are mostly young, professional and energetic, with simple painting style and strong desire to express. For example, some works call for the memories of disappeared historical civilizations , some works express concerns about the damage of eco-environment caused by global industrialization, and some works try to explore the mutual existence between cultures and appeal against ‘exclusive one or the other’, ‘black or white’. Most of the artists in their creation prefer to pick up the normal features to turn the ordinary into the extraordinary, and implant metaphors or narratives in the images - using different angles to depict a multi-lingual group of people that have the same mind. All these characteristics contribute to a truly inclusive and balanced large-scale painting exhibition in diversified forms and themes, a colorful world of openness and integration, home and symbiosis.
Looking at the broader horizon of the world, we will find that “it’s not a single flower but a garden that give the spectacular view in the spring”. The richness, complexity and variability of art itself are the embodiment of human’s spiritual creation. Shenzhen Dafen International Oil Painting Biennale is not only a global grand art event, but also a new historical starting point for young artists from all over the world to join hands in the pursuit of beauty.
