平民保护处

Summary

The trainee will contribute to the work of the Protection of the Civilian Population Unit. A substantial percentage of the job will be allocated to child protection issues, including 

1. the impact of armed conflict on children's access to education

2. Children Associated with Armed Forces and Armed Groups (CAAFAG)

3. Unaccompanied and Separated Children (UASC)

4.  children and detention

Summary

The Public Communication Division provides advice and support to ICRC staff around the world with a view to strengthen the organization's public positioning and acceptance, as well as respect for International Humanitarian Law. A key responsibility of the Division is to generate policies and guidelines on new themes, exploring new practices and develop training tools.

In 2017 the Public Communication Division is offering a one-year paid traineeship focusing on its policy and support activities.

1. Support the development of Community Engagement practice

2. Support projects implemented by the "Policy and Support" cell

3. Support the organisation of events (external ones and internal meetings, workshops and courses, brownbag lunches)

Conditions

• Salaried traineeship

• Place of work: ICRC headquarters, Geneva

• Work permit in Switzerland is taken care of by the ICRC ("carte de légitimation")

• Trainees are responsible for all expenses and costs incurred in undertaking a traineeship with the ICRC in Geneva

• Duration: 12 months (full time)

Summary

The Division for Cooperation and Coordination within the Movement is responsible for developing and implementing ICRC policy and action in the field of cooperation and coordination within the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. The Division serves as a centre of expertise for the ICRC's operational and capacity building work with National Societies and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.

The trainee will support the Division in the follow up of the 32nd International Conference and 2015 Council of Delegates and the preparations for the 2017 Council of Delegates. This includes event management and promotion, project management and liaising with diverse stakeholders internal to the ICRC and the Movement and externally.

Conditions

• The recruited candidate will be offered a one-year contract. The position is remunerated and based in Geneva.

• The traineeship will begin in May 2017.

• Incomplete applications will not be considered.

• Only short-listed candidates will be contacted subsequently for interviews (by phone or in person).

• Please be aware that the ICRC is not in a position to cover any related travel or accommodation costs.

Summary

Trainees at the Legal Division undertake a variety of assignments, including carrying out research and writing project briefs on specific legal questions primarily related to IHL, both in French and in English. They also review legal documents, contribute to the preparation of meetings, prepare draft reports or minutes of meetings and give presentations on IHL to groups visiting the ICRC.

Conditions

• The ICRC's Legal Division is offering six paid traineeships for a period of one year at its headquarters in Geneva. 

• The traineeships start in autumn 2017.

• Deadline for application: 15th April 2017. 

• The selection process will take place between May and June 2017.
