本周就着之前采访里的问题我们找到了我们此次演出的另外四位女战士,听听她们是怎么看待身为女DJ这件事的。

Q:有没有觉得作为一名女DJ你更需要证实你自己?
Do you notice that you have to prove yourself more as a female DJ?

10年前我在成都的时候国内还很难找到真正的音乐,我当时是一名俱乐部舞者并因此有机会接触到了那些优秀艺人的作品,进而成为了当时中国为数不多的一名女DJ。可能是因为人们对商业俱乐部里面女DJ的印象都是做戏,其实这个场景对女性来说一直挺难的。当然如果想要证明自己都是需要一段路程,我想要做一名好的DJ都需要时间练习学习来证明你可以。北京是那个理想的地方,在这里我觉得现在人们思想比较开,只要你相信你可以还有对音乐的热爱,大家都会接受的。
It was hard to even find anything musical in the scene ten years ago. I was a dancer in Chengdu back then, during which time I got connected with DJs and became one myself at the end. The scene has never been easy for women. I guess it has something to do with the fact that girls play in those commercial clubs tend to do pre-mix set, and this has left some people a bad impression on female DJs. It’s a process to prove yourself and it takes lots of time to learn and practice. For me, Beijing is where all dreams come true. People have open minds here and you just gotta keep that faith in yourself.

在中国身为一名女性DJ其实会在参与活动时多一些福利,但我觉得当人们谈到先锋音乐的时候我们还需要赢取更多的认同。不仅是在中国,哪怕在国外我也遇到过有着那样固化且偏执的思维的人。就像在其他任何行业中一样,女性可以也应该作为DJ放音乐,甚至成为领航者。
Being a female DJ in China gives you a certain leverage when it comes to corporate events but once we start talking about cutting-edge music I feel that we still need to gain trust to be accepted. Not only in China but also abroad I've got caught up in situations that proved how ignorant minds can be. Women can and should play and just like in any other business, we can also lead.

作为一个女生的DJ我自己觉得在你有没有实力这方面非常受到歧视。我从一开始DJ以来几乎每到新的地方表演都会有这种感觉。很多club的老板和驻场的DJ在我没有表演之前甚至不愿意跟我说话,我可以感受的出来他们心里想我一定放的很差。不过我可以理解这种心理的来源,毕竟一开始女生DJ真的有实力的很少,非常多的情况的确是靠着女生DJ比男生DJ稀少等种种原因得到工作而不是真的音乐放的好的原因。不过这种趋势在改变,有实力的女生DJ现在是越来越多了。就是这样的原因我们需要不停的证明自己的实力。我觉得这也是我工作必要的责任。不管我是女的或是男的,我要对我的工作负责,所以每次表演我会尽力做的很好。希望国内会出现越来越多有实力的女战士!
Well, I do get underestimated very often as a female DJ. I kinda have had this feeling ever since I started DJing. It’s like every time I went to play at a new venue, those owners didn’t even want to talk to me as if I’d play shit. And I did see where this misunderstanding came from- there were very few "real" female DJs back then. Also in many cases girls got picked for the job not because of their skill but their exiguity as a DJ. Now it’s changing. More and more pro female DJs have come up now. I just feel like it’s my duty. I take responsible for my job no matter what gender I am, and that’s why I am always trying to be better at every gig I play. Hope the scene can have more Valkyries in the future.

The crowd is always mesmerized by her flawless performances and music styles moving from disco, funk and deep house, to tech house and techno. She’s now a regular fixture of Shanghai’s club scene.
你的确需要不断地证明自己,我觉得作为DJ这无关乎性别。可能只是对女性来说更困难一些。但反过来作为一名女性当你做到了的时候后面的路反倒会相对平坦。我说的不见得对但这是我的观点。总而言之无论你是什么性别你最好都能成为尖儿的。
Yeah actually you do need to prove yourself always. I would say any DJ needs to no matter male or female. For female it is harder. But as soon as you did it as a female I think it's easier to go up in the DJ carrier. Maybe I am wrong but that’s how I feel. At the end of the day no matter what genders you are you better be good always.

她发布于荷兰厂牌 100% Pure的处女座Dillema可以追溯到十余年前的2004。显然她当时已然势不可挡,这首歌凭借其强劲、funky以及富有感染力的律动,霎时得到了从techno场景内精英到卧室派对dj以及电子乐迷等几乎所有人的追捧。而后便是在其个人项目Intacto imprint以及其他包括Ibadan Records,Cocoonm,Bpitch Control等一些列厂牌发布的热单。高光时刻包括她2007年在Music Man放出的Shinedoe mix,为Resident Advisor podcast和Mixmag制作的mix set,以及给The Knife, Orlando Voorn, Pantha Du Prince, Terre Thaemlitz, Booka Shade等人制作的混音。
Her releases stretch back over a decade to when her debut track Dillema dropped on Dutch label 100%Pure in 2004. It was clear nothing was going to hold her back - the track was picked up by everyone from the techno elite to the bedroom DJs and ravers who couldn't get enough of it stough, funky and infectious groove. A series of killer 12s would follow, both on her own Intacto imprint and labels such as Ibadan Records, Cocoon, Bpitch Control - to name but a few. Key moments included the Fuse Presents Shinedoe mix that dropped in 2007 on Music Man, which added extra heat to her already hot reputation. Having also contributed stellar mixes for theResident Advisor podcast and Mixmag series, Shinedoe also delivered exceptional remixes for the likes of The Knife, Orlando Voorn, Pantha Du Prince, Terre Thaemlitz, and Booka Shade.
