More young Chinese are turning away from marriages, with men staying single for financial reasons and women due to limited social circles, according to a recent survey on Chinese people’s love affairs in 2018.

最新的《2018年职场人婚恋观调研报告》新鲜出炉啦：更多的中国年轻人正在远离婚姻。男性由于经济原因或者穷，而女性是由于社交圈有限。

Among those who are single, 53 percent have been single for more than three years, according to the survey of zhaopin.com, a Chinese job-hunting platform, sent to the Global Times on Monday.

据智联招聘周一提供给《环球时报》的调查数据显示 53%的受访单身人士已经单了超过3年了。

Thirty-six percent of male respondents believe that poor finances are the most important reason. For women, it was about having a limited social circle, while 20 percent of the women said they were too picky. 

对于为何一直单身，36％男性认为没钱是最重要的原因，而大约一半的女性认为是社交圈小。 另外20％的女性认为他们在寻找灵魂伴侣方面过于挑剔。

About 70 percent of the respondents support office romances. The survey said that due to the fast working pace and fewer opportunities to meet new people, more workers are hooking up with their colleagues.  

有趣的是，有70％左右的受访者支持办公室恋情。该调查表明，由于工作节奏快，结识新朋友的机会较少，很多人都是从同事中找到自己的另一半。

“I support office romances because I don’t have time to meet new friends and it is easier for me to know my colleagues, like how he handles tough tasks, his work and life attitude and his personality,” a 27-year old woman surnamed Liu, who works in Beijing, told the Global Times on Tuesday.

“我支持办公室恋情，因为平时也没时间接触到新朋友，而且同事之间在日常工作中也可以进一步了解，尤其是对于工作的处理方式，态度，能力以及人品，相处久了就知道是什么样，这比通过其他途径来的更实在，” 一位在北京工作的27岁的刘女士周二告诉《环球时报》。

From a geographical perspective, Haikou, South China's Hainan Province topped the list with 88 percent of the surveyed workers single, followed by Shenzhen, South China's Guangdong Province with 77 percent.

从地理位置上来看，几乎所有重点城市都呈现高比例，长时间的单身现象。其中海口占88% 位居第一，深圳77%位居第二，连百分比最低的石家庄也高达55%，一半以上啊！

About 58 percent of male respondents say they hope to get married soon, versus 46 percent of women, the survey said.

根据调查显示，58％的男性更希望尽快脱单，而46%的女性在脱单方面则不太着急，佛系的女人们……

Parents in China often urge their single children to get married, especially during the Spring Festival holidays when relatives get together. 

中国的单身人士遭家人催婚已是老生常谈，特别是在春节假期期间与七大姑八大姨聚在一起的时候，请自行脑补画面。 

According to the survey, 41 percent said that they would “laugh but not talk” when faced with the question, while 23 percent of those surveyed said they would choose to dodge the topic.

根据调查，41％的受访者表示，在面对催婚这个问题时，他们选择“笑而不说话”，23％的人会选择回避这些话题。
