—An open letter to welcome college students around the country to join innovative undertakings in Sichuan province

  Dear students:

众智汇川，创梦青春。2016年“创青春”全国大学生创业大赛终审决赛在川精彩绽放。本届大赛吸引了2000余所高校、11万个项目、超百万大学生参赛。最终，来自全国、港澳及海外的400余个项目，6000多名大学生创客将在四川展开巅峰对决！美丽新四川诚邀全国大学生创业伙伴来川创享创业！
The final of China college students’ entrepreneurship competition in 2016, “The Creation of Youth”, will be put on in Sichuan province. A total of over one million college students with more than 110,000 programs from as many as two thousand universities participated in this year’s competition. Eventually, over 6,000 college students with more than 400 programs from the mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao and foreign countries are preparing for a showdown. Sichuan is sincerely looking forward to the participation in startups by college students all over the country. 

“天府之国”创业沃土。四川幅员辽阔，人口众多，是我国的经济大省、人口大省、自然资源大省、教育、科技和文化旅游大省。世界最早的纸币“交子”、最早的雕版印刷术、最早的锦缎丝织品蜀锦都是古代川人的发明创造，新中国第一支股票“蜀都大厦”在这里诞生。这里还是改革开放总设计师邓小平的故乡，是中国改革开放的重要策源地和先行省份之一。四川开放优雅，人杰地灵。早在唐代，四川就开辟出直达东南亚的南丝绸之路和茶马古道，开启了四川主动融入世界的铿锵脚步。四川成都是“中国领馆第三城”，随着天府国际机场的建成,成都成为继上海、北京后国内第三座拥有两个国际机场的城市。此外，川茶、川酒、、川菜、川戏享誉海内外。四川得天独厚，物华天宝。这里1400多条江河串联着整个巴蜀大地；矿藏资源富集，种类繁多，钒、钛储量居世界第一；这里生物资源丰富多样，是国宝大熊猫的家乡，是全国乃至世界最珍贵的基因库之一。四川和谐包容，多姿多彩。雪域风光巍峨炫丽、峨眉胜景秀甲天下、民俗风情异彩纷呈，童话世界九寨沟、最后的“香格里拉”稻城亚丁、最高最大的摩岩石像乐山大佛等，让你流连忘返。三星堆、金沙遗址等璀璨的古蜀文明，平添了这里的厚重与神秘。四川创新发展，潜力无限。四川良好的创新创业氛围吸引了316家世界五百强，全球50%的笔记本电脑芯片是在此封装测试，50%的苹果平板电脑是四川制造。与四川建立友好省洲和国际友城达209对。G20财长和央行行长会议、世界航线大会、财富全球论坛、世界华商大会、西博会、科博会、旅博会等国际型论坛展会纷纷入川举办；厚重多样的历史文化、良好的科教和工业产业基础折射着四川巨大的市场和发展潜力。
Sichuan, known as “Land of Abundance”, is the hotbed of entrepreneurship. Sichuan, an economic, educational, scientific power in China, is a vast and populous province with rich natural resources and cultural tourist resources. It is the place where ancient Sichuan people invented the first paper money “Jiaozi” in human history, the earliest technique of woodblock printing, and Shu brocade, the earliest silk fabrics; it is the very birthplace of the first stock of the People’s Republic of China, “Shudu Mansion”, as well. As the hometown of Deng Xiaoping, who took the lead in China’s reform and opening-up from 1978, Sichuan province plays a leading role in the reform and open-up policy in China.
Sichuan is an open and graceful province, a propitious place with great talents. It linked southwest Asia through the Ancient Tea Horse Road and South Silk Road as early as in Tan Dynasty, making it the initial step into the world. Among cities that have foreign consulates, Chengdu, the capital city of Sichuan, ranks the third in China. When Tianfu International Airport is completed, Chengdu will also become the third largest airport hub with two international airports in China, after Beijing and Shanghai. Furthermore, Tea, liquor, opera, cuisine in Sichuan province have always been enjoying great prestige both at home and abroad.
With its uniquely favorable location, Sichuan possesses various natural resources. There are over 1,400 rivers crossing through the land of Bashu, ancient name for Sichuan province. There are rich and varied minerals in Sichuan, among which the reserves of vanadium and titanium rank first in the world. There are diverse species here as well. It is the habitat of the national treasure of China, giant panda, making it the most precious gene bank even in the world.
Sichuan has manifold of attractions showing the world its harmony and comprehensiveness. Tourists to Sichuan are enchanted by the fabulous natural sceneries of snow mountains, the great spectacle of Mount Emei, unique feature of ethnic group from “fairy tale world” Jiuzhaigou, the tallest stone Buddha statue—Leshan Giant Buddha, and the picturesque Daocheng Yading, nicknamed “the last Shangri-La”. Besides, Sanxingdui and Jinsha sites with splendid ancient civilization of Shu add mystery and profoundness to Sichuan province.
Sichuan presents great potential for innovation development. Therefore, 316 corporations out of Global 500 have been appealed to Sichuan for its favorable environment for entrepreneurship. Fifty percent of laptop chips in the world are experimented here and half of the Apple Ipads are manufactured here too. Two hundred and nine foreign cities have twinned with cities in Sichuan. International forums and expositions have been held in Sichuan one after another such as G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Meeting, World Route Development Conference, Fortune Global Forum, World Chinese Entrepreneurs Convention, Western China International Fair, High-Tech Expo, Travel Expo etc. Sichuan is turned into a huge market of promising future for its long history and diversified culture, fine reputation in education and science, and prosperous industrial foundation.

Sichuan is now included in the nation’s comprehensive innovation and reform zone, shouldering the important mission of full-scale innovation.
