新书塞浦路斯首发！大疫当前的中国精神：《我的故事—岁月如歌》

王武兴教授今年64岁了，教了34年的书，经历了国家的沧桑巨变，退休后来到塞浦路斯推广汉语和中国文化。2003年“非典”时期，王武兴教授撰写了自己36万字的翻译专著。去年，王教授完成了这部自传中文初稿的写作，今年冬春之际，新冠病毒肆虐全球，他又完成了英文版的写作，王教授想让更多国际友人知道一个普通中国人的故事、我们的民族精神和家国情怀。
他说，当疫情在世界蔓延、人类面临命运和生存挑战的严峻时刻，更需要一种团结自强、友善互助、坚忍不拔、牺牲奉献的精神，这些核心内涵正是中华民族理想信念和性格特征的生动体现，是我们赖以生存发展的精神支撑和纽带，它让5000年的中华文明从未割断，代代相传，中华民族因此自立于世界民族之林，相信书中传递的积极向上的精神会激励读者们奋发前行。
塞浦路斯大学孔子学院王武兴院长新书简介
——Professor Wang Wuxing is 64 years old this year and has been teaching at Beijing Institute of Education (BIE) for 34 years. He has experienced tremendous changes in China and come to Cyprus to promote Chinese language and culture since his retirement. During the SARS period in 2003, Professor Wang wrote his own 360,000-word monograph on translation. Last year, he completed the draft version of his autobiography in Chinese. Throughout the winter and spring of this year, he also finished the English version when the novel coronavirus was raging all over the world. He wants more international friends to know the story of an ordinary Chinese, their national spirit and the sense of home and country.
He said that when the epidemic is spreading globally and human beings are facing severe challenges of life and death, a spirit of unity and self-reliance, friendliness and mutual assistance, perseverance, and sacrifice are even more needed than any time ever before. These core connotations are precisely the ideals, beliefs and character of the Chinese nation. They are the spiritual pillars and bonds that we rely on for survival and development. It has also allowed 5000 years of Chinese civilization to be passed down from generation to generation without never being cut off. Therefore, the Chinese nation stands proudly in the forest of nations in the world. Professor Wang believes that the positive drive and spirit delivered in his book will certainly inspire and motivate our readers to move forward.

王武兴先生，1956年10月12日生于北京，毕业于北京师范学院英语系（现首都师范大学），现任塞浦路斯大学孔子学院中方院长。
——Born in Beijing, China on October 12, 1956, Professor. Wang graduated from the English Department of Beijing Teachers’ College (now Beijing Capital Normal University) and is currently the Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Cyprus (CI at UCY).
王院长1982年2月毕业后在北京教育学院外语系从教34年，曾获北京教育学院首届优秀教学奖，教师继续教育先进工作者，“德育标兵”等称号。曾任十届中美教育研讨会、两届多元智能国际研讨会和中美社区教育研讨会的大会首席翻译。担任多元智能理论创始人、美国哈佛大学终身教授加德纳博士来华讲学即席口译，被其称为“出色的翻译”。曾任美国CET组织美国、澳大利亚驻华使馆外交官及新西兰驻华使馆外交官中文学习项目口笔译课程主讲教授，连续十五年被美方特聘为优级荣誉教师。
——After graduating in February 1982, Director Wang has taught for 34 years in the Department of Foreign Languages of BIE, and won the Institute’s first excellent teaching award and advanced worker for secondary school teachers’ professional development and the pacesetter of teachers’ morality. He served as the chief interpreter of the 10 China-US Conferences on Education, 2 sessions of Multiple Intelligence International Symposiums and the China-US Conference on Community Education. Dr. Gardner, the founder of the theory of multiple intelligences and a tenured professor at Harvard University in the United States, gave a lecture with Professor Wang impromptu interpreting for him in China, as which he praised "excellent translation". He used to be the chair professor of the interpreting and translation course of the Chinese study program of the American, the Australian diplomats and the New Zealand Embassy in China, and was specially appointed by the CET/FSI as an honorary teacher for 15 consecutive years.

——My Story---Witness Account of 60 Years is an autobiography of Professor Wang's life trajectory of more than sixty years, narrating the ups and downs in his whole life. It demonstrates the hard work and inspirational stories of a generation of Chinese scholars in the form of chronological memories, showcasing the unyielding, indomitable, and striving national spirit displayed by the Chinese people on the world stage.
王教授亲历了中国发展历史上十年“文化大革命”的动乱，四十多年的“改革开放”，目睹了国家从封闭落后到拥抱世界、融入国际体系发生的翻天覆地的沧桑巨变。自传中讲述了他早年经历“文革”，上山下乡插队，回城后当过瓦工，77年恢复高考上大学，做过老师、官员、口笔译翻译、国外访问学者、美国、澳大利亚、新西兰驻华使馆外交官15年的中文培训等，拥有曲折丰富的人生经历。
——He has witnessed the turmoil of the Cultural Revolution in China’s history for over ten years and the Reform and Opening-up to the Outside World for more than 40 years. He has underwent the vicissitudes of the country from seclusion and backwardness to embracing the world and integrating into the international system. His autobiography tells about his uncommonly rich and tortuous life: he was sent out to rural China as part of the Cultural Revolution as a school boy and received re-education from the farmers. After returning to the city, he worked as a bricklayer. In 1977, he passed the resumed national college entrance examination and went to college. He has been a teacher, an official, interpreter and translator, a visiting scholar to USA and Canada and a Chinese language trainer for the US, Australian and New Zealand Embassies in Beijing for 15 years running.
王教授在2016年退休之际又经北京教育学院推荐被孔子学院总部返聘为塞浦路斯大学孔子学院的中方院长，2017年6月正式赴任至今，书中讲述了他在塞浦路斯经历的故事，以及工作和生活中结识的志同道合的中外友人。在塞浦路斯任职期间，他不辞辛劳、不畏困难，与塞浦路斯各地区大中小学商谈增加汉语教学点，和孔院合作伙伴们一起组织举办中国文化节、中塞友好运动会、华人华侨春节晚会等大型中塞文化交流活动，为中国文化“走进”塞浦路斯、“走出”世界作了巨大贡献！
——When Professor Wang retired in 2016, he was recommended by BIE, and was re-employed by the Confucius Institute Headquarters as the Chinese Director of CI at UCY. He has officially been in office since June 2017. The book also recounts the impressive stories and acquaintances of his many close friends, Chinese and Cypriot alike, while he works in this country. During his tenure in Cyprus, sparing no effort and unafraid of difficulties, he discussed with universities, the primary and secondary schools in various Cypriot cities to increase steadily Chinese teaching points, organized and hosted with CI’s collaborators many large-scale Sino-Cypriot cultural exchange activities such as the Chinese Culture Festivals and CI Days, the China-Cyprus Friendship Sports Days, and the Chinese Overseas Spring Festival Galas and other important cultural and educational events, making a great contribution to Chinese culture " going into" Cyprus and "out of" the world!
