Return to the Forbidden Planet

All ages. Loosely based on Shakespeare’s The Tempest and the 1956 sci-fi cult classic film of the same name, Return to the Forbidden Planet finds a spaceship, helmeted by Captain Tempest, making an emergency landing on the uncharted planet where only residents are the mad scientist Doctor Prospero, his daughter Miranda, and their robot Ariel. Come join to find out more about this fun adventure.

Samajam Kids Show - You Are the Show! in Beijing

Ages 1.5+. From a blank space, two dancers create a wonderland with crayons as they play, dance, and draw. This is for the kids who love to draw, play, and be creative. There is also a huge community drawing party after the performance where all participants will be creating a huge picture together.

Atelier Creative Workshop

Ages 5+. For this spring holiday, Atelier’s Sanlitun campus will present a creativity workshop with a topic inspired by Les Machines de l’île de Nantes. During the workshop, students will discover this marvelous world of the Machines de Nantes, and especially learn more about the carousel they created for their exhibition of the “Machines of the Isle in Nantes”.

The Fourth “HiKicker” International Soccer Cup

All ages. Beijing International Polo Club invites everyone to the 2018 HiKicker Cup. As well as the games themselves, the club will provide an after-game party, a market/cuisine street, World Cup Soccer Gear sales, and a “Field sale” (where parents can bring used or set-aside toys/books to exchange), in order to build a unique event as of a true soccer festival.

Sunshine Studios Street Dance Classes

Ages 4+. Sunshine Studios Street Dance classes are taking place at the Western Academy of Beijing (WAB), and are open to all. This international dance company has set the gold standard for training with many of their students going on to work for movies, TV shows, concerts, and famous theatre shows. Classes are every Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday from April 1 until June 13.

Seeds of Hope Charity Gala Concert

Earth Day Family Theater | When All Was Green

Ages 5+. Take your little one to join Tong Playroom to learn more about this inspiring performance at Beijing 9 Theatre. When All Was Green is a non-verbal, award-winning puppetry performance inspired by the famous children’s book The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein. Directly from Israel, The Key Theatre delivers a poignant reflection on nature’s generosity of spirit in spite of man’s greed.

CISB StageCats present The Wizard of Oz

All ages. The Wizard of Oz is well-known all over the world for its heartwarming story, unforgettable songs, and timeless characters. Canadian International School of Beijing (CISB) StageCats are bringing this classic to life in an exciting and energetic way – giving audiences the chance to travel down the Yellow Brick Road in search of the wonderful Wizard of Oz.

Sleeping Beauty by Russian State Ballet in Beijing

All ages. Sleeping Beauty by Charles Perrault or Little Briar Rose by the Brothers Grimm is a classic fairy tale written by Charles Perrault and the Brothers Grimm, which involves a beautiful princess, a sleep-inducing curse, and a handsome prince. The version created by the Brothers Grimm predates the original literary tale published by Charles Perrault in Histoires Ou Contes du Temps Passé in 1697.

MCF & Globalcare’s “Beijing’s Got Talent”

Adults. MCF teams up with Beijing World Youth Academy (BWYA) for an evening of great food, drink, company, and a mystery murder for us all to solve. The annual Murder Mystery fundraiser this year has a theme of “Beijing’s Got Talent,” and all proceeds will go to MCF’s projects to help support the health check-up of migrant children in Beijing.

Sweat Like a Swede

Adults. Come for an evening workout with Heyrobics and the Swedish Chamber. Earth Day Cleanup at the Jiankou Great Wall

Adults. The Great Wall on the west side of Jiankou has been somewhat spoiled by a buildup of trash and litter, left by lazy hikers and careless campers. In the spirit of Earth Day on April 22, and in order to give back to the communities in which they hike, Beijing Hikers are going to try and collect as much litter as they can and carry it out.

Good Enough Parenting Course

Adults. An introductory workshop based on the ‘Good Enough Parenting’ program. GEP uses evidence-based strategies built on Schema Therapy, founded by Dr. Jeffrey Young, that teaches parents, carers, and educators how to meet core emotional needs and develop positive thinking patterns in children. The program uses Movie Therapy as an engaging tool for interactive conversations with examples of how to apply current research to adult/child interactions and practice. This workshop will introduce the full GEP course that consists of a further four sessions of training, with each one focusing on meeting one of the four core emotional needs.
