Chinese Knot Experience Course, June 27



All ages. Beijing Mandarin School is currently offering classes in Chinese culture, cooking, calligraphy, painting, paper cutting, and knotting. This Thursday, you will be given the opportunity to participate in a Chinese knot  course. The Chinese knot signifies a variety of themes like reunions and good luck. They also make great gifts or decorative pieces for the home.

Splash Day at Embassy of Switzerland, Jun 29



All ages. Summer is always a good time to have a splash in the pool. The Embassy of Switzerland will host a pool party with buffet, BBQ, wine and beer, and tunes courtesy of DJ Bobby this week.

“Adventures with Picasso” Series Session 2, Jun 29


All ages. In conjunction with the exhibition “Picasso – Birth of a Genius,” UCCA presents four weekends of exhibition-related public programs including panel discussions, the performing arts, and cinema. The series, titled “Adventures with Picasso,” seeks to introduce audiences to the life and work of the great artist in a variety of different formats. After learning about the many aspects of Picasso’s artistic practice from experts in the field, audience members will also have an opportunity to catch a glimpse of the artist’s personal history in a set of recordings and documentaries, some of which are being screened for the first time in China.

Opening Party for CandleX’s Moodlab Photography Series: A Walk Into the World of Bipolar Disorder, Jun 29



Adults. This exhibition will feature Moodlab, an intimate portrait photography series shot by Pere Ibanez profiling Beijing residents that have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder. In addition, the opening event will include a panel discussion, which CandleX hopes will be an open and frank conversation on the realities of bipolar disorder. To cap the evening off, they will have a raffle, for which many sponsors and partners from the wider Beijing business community have generously donated prizes.

Cats: The Musical, July 3-6



All ages. The international musical phenomenon Cats is in Beijing at the Beijing Century Theatre this July. On just one special night of the year, all Jellicle cats meet at the Jellicle Ball where Old Deuteronomy, their wise and benevolent leader, makes the Jellicle choice and announces which of them will go up to The Heaviside Layer and be reborn into a whole new Jellicle life.

America’s Backyard BBQ – AmCham China 2019 Independence Day Party, Jul 6

Beauty Unites Us - Chinese Art from the Vatican Museum, Now-Jul 14



All ages. The Palace Museum brings together Chinese artifacts from the collection of the Vatican Museum. The Vatican collection includes a great variety of approximately 5,000 items from China, spanning the ages. Those shown here are divided into three sections:, Catholic Art, Buddhist Art, and Secular Art. The Palace Museum, in a gesture of friendship and generosity, has furthermore added masterpieces of its own to be exhibited alongside works from the Vatican Museum's.

Hello Mars: 3D Digital Space Exhibition, Now-Aug 25



All ages. Have the kids ever talked about space? Are they interested in learning more about all the wonder that exists above our heads? It’s time to take them through this mysterious frontier at this educational and immersive exhibition about the planet Mars. There is a lot to explore and all 1,500sqm is for the taking at this exhibition, which is split up into 14 different sections where the kids can literally step into space and enjoy elements of surprise with extraterrestrial pop-ups and interactive projections.

Yoga in the Park, Every Sunday



Adults. Yoga in the Park, hosted by Taozi Tree Yoga and Moka Bros, returns this weekend for another limber session of mind and body stretching in Chaoyang Park. All levels are welcome, and it’s a great opportunity to connect to likeminded yogis and let go of some of that weekday stress that inevitably weighs us down, even on the weekends. All participants can also receive 15% off their order at Moka Bros. Solana after the session.
