Positive Discipline for Early Childhood Educators Workshop, Aug 28-29
Adults. This is a two-day interactive English certification workshop designed for early childhood educators, teachers, and caregivers of child 0-6 years old. Participants will learn the principles of positive discipline and how to apply them to groups of young children. This workshop also covers how young children learn, how to increase emotional learning, and how to apply this knowledge in a classroom or care setting. Participants will earn recognition as a Certified Positive Discipline Early Childhood Educator.

The Beijing Girl Scouts Chapter is hosting an info session for their program at the International School of Beijing (ISB) on Aug 24 and Western Academy of Beijing (WAB) on Aug 31. The Girl Scouts team will also be recruiting leaders for newly forming troops and parent volunteers. USA Girl Scouts Overseas (USAGSO) serves girls living overseas and girls attending American or international Schools. All girls with foreign (non-Chinese) passports can join and there are places available for kids from K-12.

Wheeled Robot: Robotics and English Summer School, Aug 26 - 30
Kids 12 - 18. Get the kids excited with first-hand experience of Tsinghua International School’s X-Lab robotic education program. 12- to 18-year-olds can participate in a number of courses taught by Tsinghua Robotics PhD Dr. Sotirios and the center's Robotics team. Students will learn about motion control by assembling their own wheeled robot. Participants will be able to add ultrasonic sensors to their robots, as well as a camera and an LED using ROS-Python-OpenCV to classify colors and detect target objects. Next, students will be able to add a robotic arm and spend some time reviewing the course.

Picasso - Birth of a Genius, Now - Sept 1
All ages. Ullens Center for Contemporary Art, (UCCA) is pleased to announce that Picasso – Birth of a Genius—the most significant exhibition of work by Pablo Picasso (1881-1973) ever to take place in China—will be presented at UCCA between June 15 and September 1, 2019. The exhibition, which offers a comprehensive overview of the first three decades of Picasso’s career, is drawn from the collection of the Musée national Picasso-Paris. It includes 103 works in total, including paintings, sculptures, and works on paper.
