Free Winter Fun for Kids and End of Year Sale at Solana
We give you all the essentials in Beijing, from events to news to community connections.
Christmas might be over but the festivities are still going strong at Solana. This winter they’ve turned their shopping center into a family-friendly winter fairyland with food carts, ice skating, play areas, and, not to mention, end of year sales for the parents.
Their free, all-day outdoor play area is loved by kids of all ages who seem impervious to the winter cold. Their excitement at seeing the giant puppet slides and seesaws is enough for them to temporarily forget about the cold breeze. “It’s ok. Kids are tougher than they look,” a doting grandpa tells me when I asked if he’s at all concerned about his granddaughter getting sick. She, on the other hand, had a great time going up and down the slide and making some pint-size new friends along the way.
For the kids who love to skate, right next to the play area is a decent size outdoor ice rink open every day from 10am to 10pm. No prior booking is required, but kids under 1.3 meters will need to grow a bit more before they can hit the ice.
Stroll a bit further and their holiday market will still be in full bloom with toys, trinkets, and snacks for sale until January 4 and the Solana choo choo train will continue to make its rounds all year round.Weekdays:
RMB 50 for 90 mins. Family package (one parent and one child): RMB 90 for 90 minsWeekends:
RMB 80 for 90 mins
Family package (one parent and one child): RMB 120 for 90 mins
With so many great family-friendly restaurants in Solana and these kid-friendly winter activities, it’s a great time to check out the end of year sales and entertain the kids all in one fun-packed afternoon.
