2020 Burger Festival
It’s a bun… it’s a plate… it’s… BURGERMAN!!! This Friday marks the beginning of the great 2020 Beijing Burger Festival, a three day affair which will run from 3pm-9pm on Friday, and 11am-9pm on Saturday and Sunday. This year’s festival is superhero themed, so you are encouraged to come in costume, making it a great fun outing for adults and kids alike. Oh and speaking of kids, children under 1.2m attend for free. As well as dozens of stands of delicious burgers, there will be tasty snacks, drinks, and plenty of live entertainment. We’ll see you there!

Kids Club Hike at the Huanghuacheng Lakeside Great Wall
As if you didn’t already know it, Fall is hands-down the most beautiful season in Beijing. Those blue skies, crisp breezes, golden autumnal colors creeping into the landscape… but it’s also pretty short-lived so don’t miss an opportunity to get enjoy it while you can. This Saturday, the Beijing Hikers are organizing their very popular Kids Club hikes out to the Huanghuacheng Lakeside Great Wall. The hike is best suited for kids over five years old, and will consist of an easy stroll on lakeside trails and park paths, culminating in a picnic spot beneath the Ming Dynasty-era chestnut trees.
From 8am. Departs Liangmaqiao, Lido. RMB 380 adults/ RMB 340 for members / RMB 200 for kids 6–12 / RMB 160 for kids 3–5

DIY Beihai Park Scavenger Hunt
Speaking of outdoor activities, the Bespoke Beijing Scavenger Hunt is something you should definitely add to your bucket list before winter arrives and the overall high score winner is announced! As the name suggests, the hunt takes place all around one of Beijing’s most iconic sites – Beihai Park, and is designed to help you explore and discover the large and beautiful park and the huge amount of history contained within. The scavenger hunt can be done at any time the park is open but makes the perfect weekend and Golden Week activity to keep the kids entertained. All participants can submit their score to the leaderboard, and go into the running to win a staycation at The Opposite House.

BritCham’s Highland Games Competitions
Whether you can proudly describe your Scottish clan and tartan, or just fancy yourself in a kilt, this Sunday’s Highland Games competitions are a great opportunity to celebrate Scottish culture and have a load of fun with the whole family. Highland Games have been held in Scotland for hundreds of years, and each year the British Chamber of Commerce puts on a cracker of a day to share it with everybody. There will be plenty of tasty food and drink (including icecream of course), and a tonne of fun games including ones especially for kids like the egg and spoon race, sack races, ring toss, and tug-o-war.
