Children's Art Class

This Saturday, Belgian born and French raised artist David Frank will be hosting two special children’s art classes aimed at helping children discover their innate creative ability through observation, touch, practice, and creation. Grounded in the French art class teaching philosophy, the two sessions are customized for children 5-7 (afternoon session) and 8-12 (morning session) and present a great opportunity for kids to learn from a highly respected professional artist in a fun and engaging environment.

Morning session 10-11.30am. Afternoon session 1.30-2.30pm. Today Art Museum. RMB 100 per child

Lost Puppies 2nd Birthday, BBQ Party

Two years ago, the team behind Lost Puppies of Beijing began rescuing stray dogs off the street and from high-kill shelters, taking care of their veterinarian needs, getting them registered, and ultimately finding them safe forever homes. In the last two years, their network has grown and grown and they have now rescued over 200 dogs! To celebrate this milestone and to raise much-needed funds for future pups in need, the Lost Puppies are hosting a fun doggy birthday BBQ party this Saturday that will include food and drinks, a silent auction with pet-friendly prizes, and plenty of wagging tails. You can bring your own dog along (on a leash) and if you have been thinking about adding a furry friend to your family, this would be a great time to enquire about adoption or fostering.

4-8pm. Plan B. RMB 50

INDIGO X Roundabout Charity Bazaar

This Saturday and Sunday, INDIGO mall in Shunyi and local favorite charity organization Roundabout are teaming up for another installment of their ever-popular charity bazaars. Head over to browse through a wide range of handicrafts, gift items, jewelry, tasty treats, and more. All money raised will go toward helping children with serious illnesses. And if you’re interested in hosting a booth yourself, it’s still not too late to sign up!

10am-6pm. Outside the Indigo Winter Garden. Free.

The Hutong Art Festival

Ready to dip your toes into the local art scene? Here’s a great event that the whole family can enjoy. The Hutong Art Festival (HAF), will be held this Saturday and Sunday at the Beiluoguxian branch of Big Small Coffee. Over 40 independent artists and cooperatives will be in attendance, including some of our absolute favorites like Liuba Draws and Plastered 8. This will be especially great for kids that are into illustration, so tell them to hold onto their pocket money for all the prints, illustrations, comics, and more that will be on display. And when you’re done browsing, you can all sit down for a proper pick-me-up cup of joe at Big Small, which does some of the best coffee in town.

1-7pm. Big Small Coffee Beiluoguxian branch. RMB 20 (early bird), RMB 30 (at the door), RMB 79 (mystery prize)
