Amongst the schools that will be at this year’s JISE is Daystar Academy 启明星双语学校. Founded in 2002, Daystar Academy is a dual-curriculum, K-12 bilingual immersion school. As an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, Daystar is authorized to offer the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) and Middle Years Programme (MYP). Daystar has a long tradition of developing strong characters with our students being deeply immersed in both Chinese and Western cultures.

Curriculum description: The Early Learning Center provides Montessori and Reggio-inspired programs and IB curriculum framework. Daystar’s elementary students engage in an inquiry-based approach to exploring the US Common Core standards for English and the Chinese National Curriculum (CNC) for Chinese language arts and math. The Beigao campus is also an accredited IB PYP school. Secondary School students explore the majority of IB MYP content – including Mathematics, Science, Visual Arts, Music, Physical Education, and Design Technology – through English. Chinese Language and Literature, Chinese Individuals and Societies, and Character Education are taught in Chinese and follow the CNC standards.
