Get Your Lunar New Year Gear Here – Already!

I was shopping for an outfit my kids could wear to their Christmas recitals yesterday, the day before the performance, as usual, cramming a shopping trip into my lunch break. Rummaging through the sea of red outfits, I searched for something he might possibly wear again. They’re at that stage where they grow like weeds and any possibility of an outfit not being a one-off is appreciated. I didn’t mind it so much when I knew anything my oldest outgrew would pass on to his younger sibling, but we are two and done, so now it goes directly to Roundabout.
Anyway, there I was at H&M, rifling through red clothes until an ox stopped me in my tracks. Quite literally. I realized we’d moved from reindeer to an ox, jumping from Christmas to the Lunar New Year in the mere space of a hanger.
Since I normally wait until the last minute to find their clothes for school shows, I thought that today I’d think ahead and actually do my due diligence in shopping instead of grabbing the last animal from the Chinese Zodiac left on the rack.

Here’s what I found during a rushed Solana shopping trip while the smaller dude was in after school:
A fancy and subtle ox dress
Cute oxen with heart and bows. Can figurines be far behind?
Combine the ugly Christmas sweater tradition with Chinese New Year, and you get this.
Is it red? Is it gold? Enjoy this interactive top.
The only thing that would make this better is if it say "Moo." (Does an ox moo?)
Who doesn't want a shiny ox sweater to ring in the new year?
Do they make this in adult sizes?
Of course, I was so busy taking photos that I didn’t remember to purchase one. But now I know where I can get them in a pinch.
I think we can all agree that the Year of the Rat was, well, ratty, and no one wants to dwell on it. The Year of the Ox should be better, if still different, and I for one very much look forward to it!
