Central Conservatory Preparatory School (short for “CCPS”) of Dongcheng District, Beijing, located in the heartland of Beijing, is a professional music school connecting the world stage with dreams. With personalized classical music and contemporary music instruction as the core education, combined with systematic academic courses, the school aims to cultivate professional musicians and promote versatile artistic development of students.
CCPS has set up a preparatory course program and a three-year high school program. The music course at CCPS includes classical music and contemporary music. In the classical direction, it offers four majors: instrumental music, vocal music (bel canto and musical) composition, and conducting. The contemporary music direction offers pop singing, modern instrumental performance, electronic music production, songwriting, etc.
Both music and academic courses are equally important at CCPS. The school gathers excellent music and academic teachers – home and abroad, sets an integrated music curriculum and aims to cultivate students’ comprehensive music ability in an all-around way. The academic curriculum includes customized English courses to meet students’ needs for further study, Chinese and humanity courses to develop students’ knowledge and identity in language, history, and culture, and mathematics and science courses to develop students’ logical thinking, practical abilities in science and engineering.
The rich extracurricular activities are a special feature of CCPS. Musical events such as concerts, masterclasses, music salons, etc., continue to provide the students with a great platform to show off their talents and to learn from the real masters. Academic activities such as drama festivals, English speech contests, overseas visits to schools, and outdoor classes help them broaden their horizons. Public welfare social services such as the Wings of Music Charity project and care for special children have enhanced their sense of social responsibility and service awareness.
CCPS has established long-term relationships with many universities and colleges in the world and invited professors from different universities to give masterclasses and other activities from time to time. Bard College of Music, Cleveland Institute of Music, and other internationally renowned music schools offered test centers at CCPS for enrollment. The school has established great cooperative relationships with many foreign conservatories, including Berklee College of Music, San Francisco Conservatory of Music, Royal Northern College of Music, Temple University, Manhattan School of Music, University of Delaware, Indiana University, Royal College of Music, Colburn School, University of Southern California, State University of New York, Purchase College of Music, Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University, and many more.
