Hex-a-Dex: Harrow Beijing’s New Game Offers Fun With Phonics

It’s all fun and games until your child realizes they’re learning something! But with this new card game Hex-a-Dex, they won’t want to stop. The game design was led by Yaqi Zhao in Harrow Beijing’s marketing department and it’s a fun skill-based game for kids ages 4 and up. Hex-a-Dex offers families three separate games to involve parents in their child’s learning. Scan to watch our test run!
As you can see, the game was a blast! The concept of the first game was familiar and easy enough for young kids to grasp while staying challenging for the older kids. And when I’m not filming the playtime, I’m assuming it will be a lot more fun to actually join them, and help the kids sound out words.
Other games can be played with the deck besides Match and Match, such as Roadman and Amazing Cells. Once the cameras stopped rolling, our younger set of kids even made up their own game! I couldn’t quite follow the rules, but they were having fun while sounding out words, and that’s really what counts.
