Our expat community thrives on connection, and here at Jingkids, we’re all about our readers, what they need and want in order to maximise their time here in Beijing. Every Monday, we’re going to feature a prominent member of our expat community and get to know them a little bit better.
You probably already know her name from the many family and food-oriented WeChat groups that Camilla Kongshavn Jovanovic is an active member and administrator of. Maybe she's even helped sate your Sweet Cravings - which happens to be the name of her dessert and baking business that has helped raised funds for at least two Beijing expats who faced medical crises this year alone. Currently, she is also leading the sponsorship team for Chi Fan For Charity. Oh, and she's also a full-time mom.
Hi! My name is Camilla. I was born and raised in Norway with a Norweigian father and a mom from Thailand. I moved to Beijing when I was 18 and had a roller-coaster of a life until I met my husband. Between martial arts, acting, export/import business, plus beijing a married woman and full-time mom, I live for my family and spend every second of my spare time supporting and helping others. I love China and the people here, so I've done my utmost to contribute to the Beijing community. There are so many reasons why this is my eleventh year here and I want to give back. I am forever grateful!
What's On Your Mind?
Currently, my family - my daughter and husband, plus our families. I'm also thinking of the charities I work with here in Beijing.
What Motivates You To Get Moving?
My family and the people around us. Not only has my daughter strengthened me in ways I never thought possible, but so have the people I encountered here in Beijing, who continue to give me hope and inspiration!
What Keeps You Sane In The Madness?
I am very organized when my fire has been lit. Not much can stop me once that happens! I simply focus on what needs to be done and get it done. This has mostly only been possible as my husband does anything to support and help. We care for our daughter by ourselves and he works full-time, which is why team work is essential! My accomplishments are just as much his.
What's Your Favorite Thing About Beijing?
The community and opportunities available for everyone here. We're spoiled and incredibly lucky to be here!
