The holidays are coming, and that means your little darlings will be home and making you crazy…I mean, keeping you company. If you would rather get them off the couch and out of the house, however, there are several great camp options this winter.

Cooking at Cuccina: Around the World in 8 Plates

From Dec 27-31, Pingo Space is hosting a cooking camp at the professional chef's kitchen inside Cuccina for children aged 6-14. Through the unique power of food, students will learn about different cultures from around the world as well as some basic kitchen skills such as weights and measurements, basic knife techniques, and of course health and safety guidelines. They will learn recipes and record them in a secret recipe book while also developing their own original recipes with "mystery box challenges." It will all come together on the final day as they cook and serve a meal to family and invited guests. The camp runs from 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday and costs RMB 7,588, though there is a discount of RMB 388 off if you book before the end of November. Spaces are limited as the camp can only accommodate ten little chefs. For more information and to sign up, contact Jennifer at the QR code below.

Daystar Winter Camps

A gold mine of STEM, business leadership, sports, art, and music opportunities at Daystar's Beigao and Sanlitun campuses. Exciting options include a Modern Poets Rap Camp to encourage writing and presentation skills, Natural Science Programs to get kids excited about STEM, and even a Shark Tank entrepreneurship program where your little business person could win RMB 10,000 in seed money for the development of their idea. Programs cater to students from grades 1-9 and prices vary. For detailed information on all of their offerings contact Ms. Guan on the Beigao Campus at 64337366-8048, Ms. Zhang on the Sanlitun Campus at 85323163-8602, or simply email camp@daystaracademy.cn.

Model Montessori Winter Camp

Mammolina Children’s Home will host a Montessori preschool camp from Dec 20-31. Based on Montessori work stations that are specifically designed to stimulate children’s senses, this is experiential learning where children are at their best. The school boasts a real natural playground with an authentic tree house made of wood, stone river beds featuring traditional Chinese boats to play with, and painted murals in their natural playground. What's more, Mammolina will add extra artistic activities like baking, ukulele, and art. True to Montessori form, the camps will be mixed-age and bilingual. Rates are RMB 900 per day for kids aged 3-6 and RMB 700 per day for those between the ages of 1 and 3. For more information and to register, contact Caroline at the QR code below.

Model UN Camp

Haidian Foreign Language School will host this UNESCO-certified Model UN Camp. Participants will act as diplomatic representatives of different countries, debate and research policies, and then write and vote on proposals. Plenty of outdoor activities including sports and horseback riding will help participants form strong bonds as they learn to become global citizens. Two sessions of the program run this winter from Jan 23-29 and Feb 6-12. Participants should be between 9-12 years old. The cost of the seven-day program is RMB 11,800 which includes accommodation, meals, and transportation. For more information about applying contact Wechat ID: nanguatian10
