After some 3 weeks of covid restrictions stopping us from getting facials, haircuts and massages, some of us might be ready to shave our own heads in desperation. True story - my husband asked me to.

Some time back, I found a beauty services app that brings masseuses, manicruists and more right to your door! This was how I actually found my tui na masseuse with whom I have set up a weekly appointment to tend to my ever-tense muscles that cause my migraines - which have been at bay ever since!

During this time where we hardly dare to step out of our homes, and barely have any reason to anyway, I'm happy to report that at-home beauty services are still available through the trusty 河狸家 Hé lí jiā app. This decade-old app is the secret that a Beijing belle and good friend of mine shared with me.

When you first download the app, it will ask you to choose the categories that you are most interested in – from nails to make-up to body treatments.

As the app is in Chinese, it's best if you can get acquainted with some basic Chinese phrases such as 美甲 (Měijiǎ) manicures, 美容 (Měiróng) facials, 按摩 (Ànmó) massage and 剪发 (Jiǎn fǎ) haircuts.
