All students have access to Apple Mac devices (iPads in ES, MacBooks in MS-HS), with a rich range of software and tools, and its teachers really help bring them to life.
Here are two ways that technology at WAB excites and enhances learning.
WAB Learners Are Designers & Creators
……
With dedicated Design classes from upper ES to High School, all learners have the opportunity to develop design thinking and technical skills to solve problems and to bring their ideas to life. From the onboard Apple software to online design and creation applications, all the way up to full access to Adobe’s Creative Cloud professional tools, students are given opportunities to create art, film, music, and 3D CAD designs. Students even have access to Virtual Reality design tools, using headsets and Gravity Sketch. These designs are brought to life in our exceptional makerspaces and workshops, featuring 3D printers, laser cutters, tools, kitchens, and textiles. Students learn a range of techniques to work safely and creatively in the workshop, and use design thinking to evaluate and improve their outcomes. They can even 3D-scan their creations to bring them into the virtual and augmented reality world!
WAB Learners Are Engineers
……
WAB learners have access to great robotics and coding opportunities, supported by expert teachers and top-quality resources. Building on their initial experiences of Makeblock and Scratch in ES Design, learners in Middle School use LEGO Mindstorm to create and code robots through their Day 9 projects, Maths-Design interdisciplinary unit, and through the opportunity to compete in the First LEGO League. With the introduction of VEX Robotics in High School, learners can go even further, taking their learning to higher-level competitions and projects. They also have the opportunity to explore machine learning and artificial intelligence through our Amazon DeepRacer autonomous car club and local competitions.
