It’s officially December – the month of Christmas celebrations! Though there seems to be a lack of Christmas events and activities right now, we’re all hopeful that things will change in time for us to end the year on a festive high note.

To help lift your spirits a little, here are some places in the capital that have put out their Christmas trees for you and your families to visit and admire, plus take home some Christmas gifts.

Kerry Hotel’s Christmas decor this year pays homage to Alice in Wonderland with the iconic Red Queen, White Rabbit, and other characters and themes from the famous fairy tale. Peninsula Hotel Beijing

Jingkids Editor Mina Yan’s usual Christmas haunt has pulled out all the stops again with this spectacular Christmas display. The hotel is known for its kid-friendly Christmas cooking activities, which we hope will commence soon.

For now, you can pick up some festive toys and treats at the gift shop on your way out.

Universal Studios Beijing

We’ve saved the best for last. Universal Studios Beijing is perhaps the most festive place in the capital at this time, as the park continues to operate and bring us much-needed Christmas cheer. Catch the Christmas carols a capella singing performances in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter and even meet Father Christmas in the flesh during their Santa Meet & Greets throughout the day. After dusk, you can watch the Universal Festivity Show featuring live song and dance numbers and be awed by the massive Sparkling Christmas Tree Spectacular lights and music show.

Please dress warmly as temperatures are dropping fast and Tongzhou, where Universal Studios Beijing is located, is very windy.
