The Jingkids team is excited to welcome back this year's Western Academy of Beijing interns for their World of Work (WOW) Week internship. Let's meet some of this year's interns.

Meet Manasvi,
an Aspiring Model
Working at Jingkids

Manasvi S is an aspiring future model who wants to explore the world of fashion and share the beauty with the community around her. She believes that working at Jingkids as an intern will allow her to get opportunities to interview models to not only share insight on fashion trends but also gain more knowledge about the future industry she hopes to be in. If she gets rejected for her interview with a model, she sees it as beneficial because she believes that by choosing to become a model, it means that being rejected is a part of the career. During her internship with Jingkids, she hopes to explore the subjects of fashion in Beijing, especially street fashion.

Manasvi’s hobbies include bungee jumping, going on rollercoasters and being adventurous in general, making her an outgoing person who is enjoyable to be around with. Although by now Manasvi had lived in Beijing for a year, her first experience in China that was shocking to her was when she was pleasantly surprised by the locals who were very nice upon being asked for help when she was lost in the city. She enjoys sleeping when she has the time, truly, a beauty sleep.

Jingkids Newest Intern
Hana is Anything But Boring

Hana L is one of Jingkids’ newest interns. Arriving in Beijing four years ago currently in grade 10 and humbly living her life full of friends and opportunities. She is akin to other teenage girls who believe themselves to be boring people, but trust me she is anything but. Speaking all three languages including Korean, Chinese, and English. Originally from Korea and living there for a short period of time, she has found new changes that come with living in Beijing in comparison to living in Korea.

One thing she pointed out was the different costs of public transportation. It being more expensive in Korea she has allowed herself to indulge in little luxuries. Rather than taking the bus or the subway, she has found a solid group in taking Didis, finding her life to be easier. She has also found social achievements during her time at school.

Being best friends with a grade 10 girl named Serah and finding friends with people from other social cliques. When at school you see her walking around always chatting to someone new, never putting a stop to her antics.

She says, “going to an international school there’s more people to learn about.” Finding pleasure in learning about the different cultures she comes in contact with within school. Learning how people behave and why they do so, and about people’s life in general. Her time here at her school has opened opportunities for her to indulge herself in different aspects of different cultures.

She has spent her time going to different museums and taking in the art around her. When asked what a favorite memory of her she went on to talk about the time she and her family went to the Beijing Capital Museum.

She hopes to come out of this internship with developed skills in teamwork and organization. She is learning how to cooperate with different people and how to plan and schedule her life according to a realistic timeline.

For the future, she plans to go to university in Korea in the department of Chinese language. Building up her resume and personal strength to get to where she wants to go.
