This summer in Beijing is scorchingly hot, and the outdoor heat has dispelled all sorts of plans, whether it be taking a casual stroll through the park or spending a day at a tourist site. Amidst the unbearable temperature, however, one place for entertainment has won out—water parks.

At 温都水城 Wendu Water Park, the biggest water park in Beijing that has recently been renovated, you will find yourself equipped with everything you need to enjoy a day spent out of the sun and in the shade.

There are three large water slides in this park, along with a sizable pool and a children’s area where there are numerous kid-friendly slides and fountains. Out of the three bigger slides, only one requires visitors to go one by one, so there are many opportunities for parents and kids to take the rides together. If the minimum height for these installations is not met, though, the kids’ area can also provide many chances for interaction and fun.

The indoor pool has lanes for actual swimming and another section for play and relaxation. This pool is recognized for multiple reasons, with the most significant being that one of the most popular events in the water park is the “artificial wave” function of the pool. The park prides itself upon its pool, and there are several times in the afternoon when the artificial waves will be activated. It’s almost become a tradition for all the visitors to gather in the water whenever this happens, and collectively experience the exciting, hyper-realistic waves.

Apart from the rides and equipment in the park itself, other parts of the Wendu Water Park make it great for the summer.

Inside, lining the walls of the park, there are snack booths, water gun dispensers, a DIY workshop, and even a bakery/cafe. If you’re fatigued or just want to take a break, there are many places where you can do so. On the opposite side—out of the gates to the park but still in the building—there is an assortment of restaurants providing food (pizza, Chinese cuisine, etc.) that seems extremely fulfilling after a day in the water. There is also an outdoor pool, easily accessible from inside the building; many visitors go there to take photos and simultaneously enjoy the cool temperature of the water and the warm rays of the sun.

Firstly, there is a convenient locker system in both the park and the changing rooms so that you can store your clothes before you go into the building but also put items like towels, glasses, and phones in a secure location whilst you’re in the park. Additionally, employees in the facility take great care to keep it clean and safe; for example, you will notice that they are very detailed in their instructions before you take the rides. Finally, Wendu Water Park consists of a large area that expands out from the specific building where all the rides are, so around this facility, you could find anything from hotels to plazas. In conclusion, it’s a fantastic place to consider going to this summer.
