One brave woman from Sichuan has done her part to solve Denmark's oyster crisis, heading a special operation that gathered up hundreds of pounds of the troublesome shellfish to eat.

Bian Miaomiao moved from China to Denmark with her husband seven years ago. After learning that the Danish coasts were being taken over by the invasive Pacific oyster, she knew that she had to do something to help. Last week, she gathered up a group of family and friends and went down to the beach, equipped with tools for digging and grilling.

According to Chengdu Business Daily, over a period of four hours, the task force managed to gather up over 150kg of oysters. Afterward, Bian's parents cooked the shellfish up, in spicy Sichuan stir-fry style and as "oyster omelettes." Bian's Danish friends were reportedly impressed, saying that they would absolutely order the dishes again.

Which is lucky for Bian. Because it seems like she's going to need a little help shucking through her massive haul.

Chinese netizens have cheered Bian for her selfless act of gluttony. Last month, the Danish Embassy in China created a stir on Chinese social media with a Weibo post informing netizens about the 500 tonnes of invasive oysters causing signficant problems on the beaches of Denmark.

In the post, the embassy explained how the Pacific oysters, which were introduced to Denmark about a decade ago, have seen their population explode in recent years, harming the environment and inconveniencing swimmers. With their shells too hard for birds to crack and with locals reluctant to hunt them down, the embassy playfully asked Chinese web users for help with the crisis.

In response, Chinese netizens promised to do everything they could to devour all the oysters. Sensing an opportunity to make some money, some Chinese companies have been working on ways to link the troublesome shellfish plaguing Danish coasts with the mouths of hungry Chinese foodies -- either by importing in Danish oysters or by offering special "gourmet tours" of Denmark for Chinese tourists.
