Earlier this week, Victoria's Secret announced that it would be holding its annual fashion show in Shanghai for the first time ever this November; however, one of the Angels has been warned against setting foot on a runway in the Middle Kingdom.

On Wednesday, 22-year-old American model Gigi Hadid told her fans on Instagram that she would be walking at the show. Quickly, her account was bombarded with angry comments from Chinese netizens, warning her: "Don't come to Shanghai. You're not welcome here. Screw off!"

It turns out that Chinese web users are still a tad upset with Hadid over a video posted online earlier this year by her sister, fellow model Bella Hadid, which shows Gigi holding up a Buddha-shaped cookie and making "squinty-eyes."

Gigi Hadid has since disabled comments on her most recent Instagram post, but that hasn't stopped her Chinese detractors from overtaking every other one of her posts with snake and chicken emojis and angry comments calling her an unrepentant racist.

Gigi has since issued the following apology on Weibo:

"It hurts me to hurt anyone, and I want you all to know that it was never my intent to offend anyone through my actions and I sincerely apologize to those who were hurt or felt let down by me," she wrote. "I have the utmost respect and love for the people of China and cherish the incredible memories I have made while visiting in the past."

"I have learned to be very careful of how my actions can come off or be portrayed, and I’m hopeful you’ll accept my apology," Zadid added. "I hope to meet many of you and let you get to know me for me. I do not condone hurtful behavior and want people and fans of all backgrounds to know they are welcomed, loved, and respected around me and by me."

What do you guys say?
