The long-awaited Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in Shanghai finally kicked off with over fifty of the world's top international models strutting their stuff in sexy, frilly lingerie, however, they have all been overshadowed by one young woman who showed the world that sometimes even angels can fall down.

28-year-old Shanghai-native Xi Mengyao (Ming Xi) has walked at the annual Victoria's Secret show since 2013, but that didn't save her from taking a spectacular fall on the runway in her hometown on Monday night. Video of Xi's epic slip has since gone ultra-viral on Chinese social media, becoming one of the hottest topics on Weibo.

Soon afterward, Xi issued an apology on her Weibo account. In less than an hour, her post attracted more than 360,000 likes, 100,000 comments, and 40,000 shares.

"I'm sorry for letting you all down and thank you for your concern," Xi wrote. "Working as a model for seven years, I have fallen down on the road too many times to count, but I know that no matter how much it hurts, I have to keep getting up and walking to the finish. The road to the future is long, but I will not stop. Thank you all."

Underneath Xi's posts, thousands of netizens have wrote in, telling her that the fall was no big deal and praising her for handling it with such grace.

However, a video has also popped up on Weibo showing an old interview with Xi. In the interview, Xi says that while she has fallen before, she has never fallen at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. The interviewer then asks her what she would do if she ever fell at the annual Victoria's Secret event

"I'd probably retire!" Xi responds.
