LOOK: First snow of the year falls on Shanghai!

In case you’ve somehow managed to avoid looking outside for the last 24 hours or so, you’ll be surprised to hear that it’s actually snowing in Shanghai!

Since this isn’t the kind of thing that happens every day — or indeed, every year — we’ve compiled some photos to remember the occasion by.

Essentially our city’s version of a blizzard, the snow has wreaked a bit of havoc on Shanghai’s transportation network, causing dozens of flights and trains to be delayed or even cancelled.

The snow is expected to keep falling — quite heavily even — until at least Friday morning with some areas forecasted to see between 6 to 10 millimeters of the cold stuff.
