Over the past decade, 88-year-old Jiang Bin has taken a helicopter up to the snowy peaks of the Swiss Alps and rafted at a glacier in New Zealand. Last year, she decided to sell her house so that she can continue to travel the world in her golden years.

Jiang began her adventures after retiring in 2009. Since then, she’s been to a dozen different countries, including the United States, France, South Africa, and Thailand, the Qianjiang Evening News reports.

In 2017, she decided to raise more travel funds by selling her home in Hangzhou. She put some of the money she got from the sale in a red envelope for her granddaughter’s wedding, and the rest will go towards her travels, while her daily expenses are covered by her retirement pension.

This year, she plans to travel to Japan.

In the meantime, she has taken up residence in a retirement apartment complex where she spends her time on WeChat and surfing the web while keeping up with all of the latest lingo the kids are using these days. Staff there describe her as “young at heart.”

Many netizens have been inspired by Jiang’s story, writing that they hope to be as adventurous and full of life as her when they get to be 88. However, others have argued that she is only getting these opportunities because she is from a wealthy family with real estate holdings.

“Granny: Sell off this one, I still have eight or nine more,” wrote one Weibo user.
