A man was caught on a roof in Guangzhou on Sunday, strangling a dog to death. When a resident shouted at him to shout, he only laughed back at her.

Footage of the incident that has been widely-shared on Chinese social media shows the man dangling a white dog from the roof of a building with a rope tied around its neck.

The suffocating dog struggles and shrieks, drawing the attention of at least one nearby resident who tries to shout at the man to make him stop. Instead, the man simply laughed at her.

A short time later the dog died and the man put the animal’s body into a tub of hot water to remove its hair, the witness said. In all, the process took about an hour.
