With Chinese New Year almost upon us, a shopping mall in the Shanxi capital of Taiyuan has toppled its huge sculpture of Donald Trump as a rooster.

The statue was erected in December 2016 in preparation for the Year of the Cock and, we think, served as quite an appropriate mascot for the last 12 or so months.

After its unveiling, the design became so popular that it ended up being mass produced by Chinese companies to help people ring in the lunar new year in a bigly way. Later, one inflatable version even popped up outside of the White House as a form of visual protest.

But it’s out with the old and in with the new. With the dawning of the Year of Dog, the shopping mall now has a new idol that will take center stage:

Under the Chinese zodiac, Trump is in fact a dog. More specifically, since he was born in 1946, he’s a “fire dog” — characterized as being “intelligent, hardworking, and sincere”… we’re starting to think that this kind of thing isn’t always 100% accurate.

In fact, Trump doesn’t seem to think much of his spirit animal, often using “dog” as an insult against his political opponents and Kristen Stewart.
