Absolutely HELLISH traffic jams mark the end of CNY

Following yet another fun-filled Spring Festival vacation with the family, people across China headed back to their places of work yesterday, experiencing a little more “excitement” on the way.


With the week-long holiday break coming to a close, major expressways across the country were clogged with overloaded vehicles — but nowhere were traffic conditions worse than in Haikou, where extremely foggy weather caused ferries back to the mainland to be suspended, resulting in the mother of all traffic jams:



It’s estimated that more than 100,000 people in over 10,000 cars were stranded on Hainan Island until the fog finally cleared.



Of course, conditions at major train stations weren’t all that much better:




Well, that was fun. Can’t wait to do it all again next year!
