WATCH: 11-yr-old kid destroys elevator door simply by stretching

A surveillance video clip is causing quite a bit of concern on the Chinese internet today regarding the strength of 6th-graders nowadays, relative to that of elevator doors.

The footage, recorded on Tuesday, is from the inside of an elevator in a building in Henan’s Xinzheng city. An 11-year-old boy is seen entering the elevator and deciding that he is in need of a good “stretch,” placing his hands on the elevator wall and his foot on the door, he begins to push.

Suddenly, the door flies apart like it was hit by an explosion.

In the aftermath, presumably startled by his apparently superhuman strength, the kid presses an emergency button on the elevator’s control panel.

According to a Knews report, following the incident, the property manager of the building asked that the child’s parents pay for the elevator’s repair. However, the kid’s mother has refused, arguing that the manager ought to be thanking her son instead.

After all, if it wasn’t for “stretching,” who knows what could have happened?

This defense was presumably not used by the mom of a naughty kid in Chongqing who found himself trapped in an elevator last month after taking a piss all over the control panel.
