A Russian daredevil was detained for 10 days in Beijing after BASE jumping from a supertall skyscraper that is currently under construction in the capital’s Central Business District.

While it’s still under construction, the China Zun (中国尊) has already been topped out at 528 meters, making it Beijing’s tallest building.

On the morning of April 1st, a Russian national named Alex Pykhov parachuted from the skyscraper, according to local police, who nabbed him the next day for “disturbing public order.”

In an Instagram post from April 1st, Pykhov is seen parachuting with the China Zun in the background. In comment underneath the post, he says that everything is fine and he will explain the details later.

In other Instagram posts, Pykhov posts photos from the top of skyscrapers in Guangzhou:

And video of him jumping off of one:

Beginning back in 2014 when a Russian daredevil duo managed to climb all the way up the still under-construction Shanghai Tower when nobody was looking, a wave of (mostly Russian) rooftoopers have arrived in China, climbing some of the country’s tallest landmarks while bringing their video cameras along for the ride.
