Shanghai Chinese Orchestra: Music Theatre "Overlord" @ Cadillac·Shanghai Concert Hall


Music theatre Overlord is inspired by two classical traditional Chinese music written for Pipa - Ambush on All Sides and The King Doffs His Armor. Based on historical facts, Warlord portrays Chinese warlord Xiang Yu with music scores while explores his inner world via different chapters. Unlike other film and traditional Chinese opera adaptations, Warlord does not focus on retelling the story but tries to walk into the ups and downs of life and strong emotion of this legendary man two thousand years ago.

Following the five-star success of Horror, Jakop Ahlbom returns with his trademark blend of surreal slapstick and acrobatics, this time turning his attention to Buster Keaton’s 1920 silent film The Scarecrow. Two inventors live together in one small, neat and tidy room. But when the pair create a robot maid, their routine lifestyle spirals hilariously out of control. Featuring live music accompaniment from Indie rock band Alamo Race Track and full of quirky sets and illusion, Lebensraum is not to be missed.
