Last Sunday, a woman was enjoying a meal with her family at a restaurant in Guangzhou when her son discovered a piece of “hard-to-chew cheese” inside of the lobster.

When her son showed her that piece of “cheese” in his mouth, the woman, surnamed Zhong, immediately recognized it as a piece of chewing gum. She quickly called for the restaurant staff, however, they denied that the piece of gum was their problem, telling Zhong that, “Maybe it was the lobster that ate the gum.”

Disgusted by her discovery, Zhong decided to call the cops. After arriving, police suggested blocking off the site for investigation by health authorities. While the restaurant workers initially refused, they eventually caved in and used a tablecloth to cover the table.

Three days later, Zhong returned to the restaurant, but found that the table had been cleaned off. When she approached the employees and asked about the investigation, they declined to comment.

Zhong has since reported the incident directly to the relevant authorities.
