Soak in the wintertime charm of Northern Europe right here in Shanghai as the traditional German Christkindlmarkt (Christmas market) returns to the city. Happening over two weeks in December at Tonglefang, it’s an outdoor experience of food, drinks, handicrafts, and festivities for the entire family.

Delicious scents of all kinds will fill the air with baked apples, pastries, chestnuts, and gingerbread on offer. There will also be regional specialties from Germany and other countries, or you can warm your belly with glühwein (mulled wine) or non-alcoholic fruit punch.

At the same time, beautifully decorated wooden stalls will sell handicrafts and gifts, and Santa will come by on the weekends to grant wishes for everyone.

The German Christkindlmarkt takes place on from November 30 to December 2, and again from December 7 to December 16. Weekday entry is free while weekend is ¥50 including either a mulled wine or a rum punch. Get yours today by scanning the QR code below.
