A woman on the run from police in Sichuan province has become an online star of sorts after police posted a wanted photo with her pretty face onto Weibo.

The young woman is said to be named Qingchen Jingjing (卿晨璟靓) and is wanted for being part of a gang in the city of Mianyang who scammed unsuspecting men out of their money at bars and clubs downtown. So far, two of the seven gang members have turned themselves in to police, but not Qingchen.

While the police notice initially provided few details about Qingchen, information about the woman has since leaked out from past friends and acquaintances who described her as being very extroverted at school and much sought after by her classmates. She is said to be 19 years old and to have worked the scams with her boyfriend.

Unsurprisingly, following the release of the wanted poster, netizens focused less on the woman’s alleged crimes than her good looks, joking that they would also like to learn about her whereabouts, causing police to note: “Being beautiful is not a crime, but using your looks to commit crimes is wrong.”

On Weibo, some netizens have wondered how the woman has not yet been caught with her face going viral across the Chinese internet, while others have suggested that she do the reasonable thing and turn herself in before embarking on a lucrative live-streaming career.

At the moment, police are offering a 1,000 to 3,000 yuan reward for information leading to her arrest.
