Shanghaiist Shanghaiist 2020-09-15

With more and more workers returning to the office in Shanghai, officials have decided to start implementing crowd control measures at the city’s busiest subway stops.
At 17 stations, the flow of passengers during peak hours is being slowed with limits placed on the number of passengers allowed inside stations at one time.
Here’s the list of the 17 stations:
  • Line 2: Guanglan Road, Tangzhen, Century Avenue

  • Line 3: South Changjiang Road, West Yin’gao Road, Jiangwan Town

  • Line 4: Century Avenue

  • Line 6: Century Avenue

  • Line 8: Shendu Highway

  • Line 9: Sheshan, Sijing, Jiuting

  • Line 11: Jiangsu Road

  • Line 16: Longyang Road, Heshahangcheng, Wild Animal Zoo, Xinchang, Huinan, East Zhoupu

Commuters have been advised to try to avoid these stations and to try to avoid taking the metro during rush hour. Sometimes, trains might skip certain stations during rush hour.
Face masks also remain a requirement for entering a subway station.
More than 1.1 million people rode on Shanghai’s subway system before 9 am on Monday morning.
