Foreigners cut in line for Covid-19 test, act like total pricks

Shanghaiist Shanghaiist 2020-09-06

Online anger against foreigners has sparked up yet again in China with video going viral of three foreign nationals cutting in line at the Qingdao airport to do nucleic acid testing.
In the clip filmed by a woman in the long queue, people are heard complaining in Chinese, asking aloud “why are they allowed to do that?”
One man at the front of the line appears to start to call the police but is interrupted when one of the foreigners comes over, swipes a form from his hands, and flings it to the ground.
It then becomes a bit hard to hear what the foreigner is saying but he definitely shouts, “There’s 8 million Chinese in the USA!”
He then seems to try to justify cutting in line by explaining that they are going back to the US tomorrow and are “just signing.”
When one woman shouts out “don’t come back forever,” he responds, “I’ll come back forever and tell the 8 million Chinese to get out.”

The woman filming the video mentions that epidemic prevention staff told the Chinese travelers in line to “give the foreigners face” and let them go first.
It’s unclear why exactly they were allowed to go ahead of others.
Unsurprisingly though, this whole saga has not gone down well on Weibo where netizens are accusing the workers of being “slaves” to “foreign trash.”
In the face of online anger, Qingdao’s health authority has apologized for allowing the line-cutting to happen.
Anti-foreigner sentiments are running hot at the moment as China has shifted its focus to containing imported cases of the coronavirus.
Each new day seems to bring a new trending story of a foreigner disregarding coronavirus prevention rules and/or just being a complete jerk.
