About

Hang Seng’s Management Trainee Programme offers a holistic development approach,  centred around 2 key dimensions, Enterprise and Professional. At the enterprise level, aspiring leaders are immersed in our purpose, values and strategies in fintech and Greater Bay Area business as well as Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) initiatives. The professional level focuses on 10 business and function streams. You'll build your core banking knowledge and specialist skills in an inclusive environment and equip yourself with future skills, designed and offered through our expansive and agile learning environment, customised to enhance your development and growth.

The first 24 months of the programme will be about maximising your exposure in order to gain the essential work-related knowledge and skills through rotations across core departments. You'll acquire valuable experience by participating in bank-wide projects and working in cross-functional teams. You'll then leverage your core department rotations and choose a placement area which usually lasts up to 12 months, starting the development of your career in the selected area of expertise. The opportunities don't end here – when you have graduated from the Management Trainee Programme, you'll be offered opportunities in Hang Seng to further progress and grow your career, preparing you to become one of our future leaders.

Requirements

We are looking for the following attributes and qualifications in candidates joining our MT Programme:

•Communicating with impact – ability to clearly and coherently articulate and present messages in written and verbal forms (including new media literacy) with the target audience in mind;

•Connectivity – capability to build effective connections at interpersonal, social and cross-disciplinary levels to collaborate with others and achieve common goals;

•Curiosity – strong motivation to ask questions, acquire new knowledge and experience cross-boundaries; navigate and learn in known and unknown challenges;

•Creativity – ability to bring divergent ideas together, develop novel and adaptive thinking and contribute to innovative solutions;

•Exhibit integrity, empathetic and inclusive behaviours, acting with shared purpose, speaking up taking accountability and setting high standards;

•Excellent written and spoken English and Chinese proficiency;

•Bachelor’s degree (Second Honours) or above; with less than 3 years of work experience;

•Permanent resident of Hong Kong or holder of a valid Hong Kong work visa e.g IANG

Management Trainee Programme Frequently asked questions

Q:How do I apply for the MT Programme?

Only applications submitted through our online application platform will be processed. Your application will require you to provide the following: personal information, e-mail address, education history (including tertiary and secondary education and academic qualifications attained at secondary and tertiary levels, i.e. transcripts, public examination results), professional qualifications attained, details of extracurricular activities, work experience and language proficiency examination results.

Q:I am not taking a business-related discipline. Will this affect my application?

We recruit a mixture of talented graduates from a broad range of disciplines. We welcome applications from university graduates in any discipline. If you are interested in a career with us and can demonstrate the key competencies we are looking for, please submit your application in accordance with our requirements.

Q:I am currently studying abroad. How will I be contacted for the assessment?

Interview and assessment can be conducted virtually, even though you are currently studying abroad, you are strongly encouraged to submit your application and please ensure your contact information is accurate and updated.

Q:Can I switch to another business stream after submitting my online application?

Candidates are asked to indicate their preference among different business / function streams. You should therefore take some time to familiarise yourself with the nature and requirements of each stream before making your application.

Q:I have already submitted my application but need to update my personal and / or application details. What should I do?

You can login to our online application system to update your personal and / or application details.

Q:When will I be contacted for assessment after submitting my online application?

Qualified candidates will usually be notified for assessment within one month upon submission of their online applications completely. You can always check the recruitment status in CareerLink system.

Q:How can I prepare myself for the assessments?

You are advised to be familiarised with not only the Bank’s culture & values, latest developments and the core competencies we are looking for. Besides, you should also keep yourself abreast of the market trends and developments.
