Anthony Whishaw

Anthony Whishaw was born in England in 1930 but spent his early years in South America. He returned to England and studied at Chelsea School of Art from 1948–1952, winning a travelling scholarship, then at the Royal College of Art from 1952–1955, winning a drawing prize, an Abbey Minor Scholarship and a Spanish Government Scholarship to Spain, where he was inspired by Goya’s 'Black Paintings'.
