Sue Jane Taylor


Born 1960, Dingwall, Scotland, UK

Sue Jane Taylor is no stranger to extreme working environments. She has worked for over thirty years recording the lives of workers in the North Sea oil industry on sites such as Piper Alpha, Piper B, Forties platforms and recently Murchison in the Northern Seas. Her work extends to the offshore renewable energy industry where she has followed for example Beatrice prototypes, deep water offshore wind turbines, from fabrication to offshore installation.

PIPER ALPHA MEMORIAL

In memory of 169 men who were killed on the Piper Alpha Platform, 6 July 1988.

This memorial was erected by Aberdeen City Council and The Piper Alpha Families and Survivors Association at Hazelhead Park, Aberdeen. It was funded by public and private funds. Taylor sculpted the memorial figures at Scottish Sculpture Workshop, Lumsden, Aberdeenshire. The memorial was unveiled by the Queen Mother in 1991
