E-retailer explores reseller marketing

The rise of the mobile Internet and social media is also changing the landscape of endorsement advertising, an area long dominated by celebrities. Now, some consumer brands and retailers are turning to web influencers for more targeted and cost-effective promotion.

As competition heats up among China's e-retailers, some industry players are exploring new ways of marketing to tackle the rising costs of customer acquisition. 

A start-up that focuses on story books for kids and other children care products, Davdian adopts a multi-level marketing system. The company turns users into resellers, who get a 10% cut for each re-sale transaction.

Advertising solution for mobile apps and websites

You may not have heard of Wemart before, but maybe you are already buying products from it. The start-up, which is in its series-A funding round, provides one-stop advertising solution for mobile apps and websites.

A business client only needs to select from a range of e-commerce products on the platform, and build a portfolio, and Wemart takes cares of supply, storage, logistics and other issues. 

Platform taps into “influencer marketing”

Endorsing a brand used to be an exclusive right for celebrities. But a new start-up called Robin8 looks set to bring changes to this. A user can instantly cash out by sharing one of the campaigns on his or her online social network.

The start-up company also collects and analyzes data on social media and figures out potential “influencers”, whose posts will influence the purchase decision of a large following. It has also recently launched the 'influencer search engine', which helps advertising clients find a suitable match.
