《蝴蝶夫人》是意大利作曲家普契尼的作品,也是世界上演出次数最多的歌剧之一。普契尼创作的日本艺妓乔乔桑也就是蝴蝶夫人的抒情悲剧感动了所有的观众。
Teatro Real, in cooperation with Instituto Cervantes, presents Madama Butterfly, one of the most popular operas ever performed in theaters worldwide. The tragic history of the geisha Cio Cio San - best known as Madama Butterfly - as told by Puccini touches any audience.
该剧以日本为背景,讲述一位美国军官和日本艺妓的爱情故事。剧中,普契尼在音乐上直接采用了《江户日本桥》、《狮子舞》、《樱花》等日本民歌来表明乔乔桑的艺妓身份和天真心理,具有独特的音乐色彩。他还巧妙地把日本旋律同意大利风格融为一体,而丝毫没有突兀感。乔乔桑的咏叹调《晴朗的一天》是普契尼歌剧中最受欢迎的歌曲之一,也是歌剧选曲中最常见的女高音曲目。它运用较长的宣叙性的抒情曲调、把蝴蝶夫人坚信平克尔顿会归来与她幸福重逢的心情,描写得细腻贴切,体现了普契尼这位歌剧音乐色彩大师的高超创作手法。
A temporary wife was a widespread practice in Japan at the end of the 19th century. The West - with the United States leading - had established diplomatic and commercial relations with the country in the mid-century and the fascination with the birth place of geishas spread like wild fire. The influence of a distant (and imaginary) Orient would take form in works by a variety of European and North American artists that continued well into the 20th century. In this way, Butterfly is a crass embodiment of the conflict between two irreconcilable civilizations, one which dominates the other. A man of a subtle theatrical spirit, Puccini portrayed brilliantly the fragility of a geisha in love who naively believed the dashing North American marine official also loved her. The musical score evokes agreeably harmonized traditional Japanese melodies.
这样一部伟大歌剧的首演却是以惨败而告终。对此,普契尼非常伤心和失望,但他并没有失去信心, 对《蝴蝶夫人》进行了较大的删改,并于1904年5月在意大利的布雷西亚再次公演。这次公演获得了意想不到的空前成功。
The premiere of Madama Butterfly in Milan in 1904 was a fiasco, but Puccini, persuaded it was his most expressive and authentic work, was not discouraged and fought to make it a success. Time proved him right.
这一次导演马里奥·加斯将观众带到电影里三十年代的花园,通过三个视角来让观众更好的欣赏普契尼的这部经典之作。
Stage director Mario Gas imagines the opera on a cinema set in the 1930s and narrates the poignant drama from three simultaneous perspectives: the opera itself, the film being made of the opera and its projection in black and white on a large screen.

北京塞万提斯学院携手马德里皇家歌剧院,在北京放映一系列阵容强大的西班牙歌剧,旨在让中国观众了解优秀的西班牙表演艺术。其中两部著名歌剧《蝴蝶夫人》和《卡门》将在Temple东景缘进行转播。这两部歌剧在马德里皇家歌剧院首演后,是首次也是唯一一次将在中国大屏幕进行转播,让中国观众有机会身临其境般体验西班牙歌剧的魅力。《卡门》将于10月份于Temple东景缘进行转播,将为本次活动画上圆满的句号。
In collaboration with Instituto Cervantes, Teatro Real has launched in Beijing a cycle of projections with the aim of promoting the excellence of Spanish performing arts in China. Emblematic operas such as Madama Butterfly and Carmen, which will close the cycle, are retransmitted at Temple东景缘 in July and October respectively. Being the original retransmission straight from the Premier at Teatro Real, this projection represents a unique opportunity to experience this wonderful opera as genuinely as it can get in China.
