总有一种平凡，令我们泪流满面——白方礼逝世纪念

2005年9月23日，白方礼老人辞世，遗物唯有三件：三轮车、收音机、小黄莺。个人存款为0。

从1987年开始，白方礼连续十多年靠自己蹬三轮的收入35万善款，帮助300个贫困的孩子实现上学的梦想，直到他将近90岁。

事迹

1. Bai Fangli retired in 1974. He was a model worker in Tianjing before then. Bai had no knowledge but he valued knowledge. He brought up his three children to be college students. 

白芳礼1974年退休前是天津市劳动模范。他虽然没有文化，但他崇尚知识，并把自己的三个孩子培养成了大学生。

2. Bai began to drive a tricycle in 1982. He went to work early and came back late every day. Bai saved up some money from his hard working. 

1982年，白芳礼开始从事个体三轮客运。他每天早出晚归，辛苦奔波，攒下了一些钱。

3. Bai went to his home town one day in 1987. He saw some children working in the fields. “Why don’t you go to school?” Bai asked them. The children said,“We cannot pay schooling.” Bai was really sorry to hear that. 

1987年的一天，白芳礼回老家。他在庄稼地里看到一群孩子正在干活。他问孩子们为什么不去上学。孩子们说家里付不起学费。老人听了心里非常沉重。

4. Bai thought, “The hometown is poor because people have no knowledge. If the kids don’t go to school today, they’ll be poor forever. Oh, no! They must go to school!” 

他想，家乡那么贫困，正是因为庄稼人没文化。如果孩子们仍然不上学，他们将永远贫穷下去。“不行，”他想，“孩子们不能不上学。”

5. Bai held a meeting with his family. He said, “I earned 5,000 yuan by driving the tricycle. I want to give all the money to my home town for education. I’ve made my decision whether you agree or not.” 

他召开全家人开了一个家庭会。他向全家人宣布：“我要把以前蹬三轮车攒下的5000元钱全部捐给老家办教育。这事不管你们赞成还是反对，我都已经决定了。

6. Bai went on driving the tricycle again since then. He thought of the kids in his heart. He lived frugally so that he could donate more money to education. 

从那以后，老人又蹬上了三轮车。他心里想着孩子们，自己省吃俭用，却把劳动所得都捐给了教育事业。

7. In order to support more kids to go to school, Bai sold his old houses and lent money to start “Bai Fangli education supporting company”. He donated every penny he earned. Bai still drove a tricycle to make money every day. 

为了帮助更多的孩子上学，他把老屋卖了，又贷款开办了“白芳礼支教公司”。公司的每一分利润都捐给了教育事业。他自己每天仍然亲自蹬三轮车挣钱。

8. Bai retired in 1974 and died in September 2005. During the time he earned about 350,000 yuan through tricycle-driving. However, he gave all his earnings to the education. Bai’s noble deeds moved us all. We’ll remember this great normal man forever. 

从1974年退休到2005年9月老人去世，他凭着蹬三轮车挣下35万元，全部捐给了教育事业。他的事迹感动了无数人，我们将永远记住这位平凡而伟大的老人。

感动中国

2012年，在感动中国的颁奖典礼上，白方礼老人以草根助学的代表成为了特别奖的得奖者之一。感动中国评选组委会以“白方礼们”的形式，对老人表示了敬意，也对和老人一样的这些默默帮助着失学儿童重返校园的人们表示敬意。在晚会上，主持人对老人评价道：“在《感动中国》走过10年的时候，请接受我们的特别敬意，白方礼们！让我们传递着鲜花，传递着温暖，带着白方礼们给我们的这种人间的温度，走进新的春天。在这新的一年当中，我们已经行走了一段时间，急匆匆的脚步里面，我们留给世界的不能只是背影，还应该有我们的期待，为了爱和幸福，让我们为我们每一个人加油！”
